She Runs Ultras
She Runs Ultras
Meghan Gould
She Runs Ultras is about (yup, you guessed it) running ultras. Lots of other running podcasts out there are full of gear & race reviews and interviews with the experts telling unrelatable stories about their record breaking times and super human feats. Now…don’t get me wrong, I’ve learned some great stuff from those podcasts...But what about those of us that aren’t getting paid to do this? Those of us that are mid to back of the pack runners? And those of us that have never won a damn thing? What was out there for us? Yeah, I couldn’t find it - so I decided to make it! And it just so happens that I’m getting geared up to start training for some races in 2021. So throughout this series, I’ll share what really happens when a typical, non-professional runner takes on the challenge of running an ultra. Got some races planned for this year? Let’s train together. From the emotional & physical ups and downs, to the details of my actual training plan, and the excitement (not to mention nerves) that build as race day gets closer...I promise not to hold anything back. So whether you’re already a member of the ultra community or if you’re just ultra curious...Hit subscribe and let’s do this!
Ep. 340 - OMG It's Happening Everybody Stay Calm!
📣 Big news: I’m hosting my very own ultra in October 2027! In this episode, I’m sharing what I’ve decided so far, why I chose a timed race on a looped course, and how this format will help women make the leap into ultras without the pressure of traditional distances and cutoffs. I’ll also be documenting the entire process of creating this event and inviting you to help shape it along the way. If you’ve been waiting until you feel completely ready to do something big, this episode is your...

Ep. 339 - The Truth About Social Media That Every Ultra Runner Needs To Hear
What if more than half of the accounts you're seeing online aren't even real? In this episode, I'm talking about a statistic that completely changed the way I think about social media and why every runner should think twice before accepting training advice, motivation, or inspiration from the internet at face value. I also share why I've intentionally chosen not to fill this podcast with sponsorships, affiliate deals, or ads, and why protecting the trust of this community will always matter m...

Ep. 338 - The Banner That *Almost* Started An Argument
What if one of the biggest things holding you back as a runner isn't your fitness... ...it's your thinking? In this episode, I'm sharing a funny story from my small New Hampshire town that turned into a much bigger coaching lesson about tradition, assumptions, and why "we've always done it that way" might be one of the most limiting phrases in endurance sports. If you've ever found yourself wondering whether there's a better way to train, recover, or prepare for your races, this episode is fo...

After nearly a decade of coaching ultrarunners, I've started to notice certain patterns that immediately make me pay closer attention. In this episode, I'm sharing the 10 things that make me nervous as a coach—from blindly following a training plan and making huge jumps in mileage to being afraid to walk, obsessing over m...

Ep. 335 - Stop Borrowing Other People's Beliefs & Do This Instead!
Ever notice how the people around you have plenty of opinions about your ultra running? In this episode, we cover: Why the same situation can lead to completely different reactions based on our beliefs. How friends, family, social media, and even other runners unkn...

Ep. 334 - Become A Better Runner With Strength & Mobility featuring Sian Milne of The Movement Cave
This week I'm chatting with my friend, Sian Milne, about strength & mobility for runners. Sian is a former stunt woman for the film industry turned strength & mobility coach, and a runner on top of that! So she knows a thing or two about bodies and how to keep them strong and resilient. The biggest takeaway that I hope you get from this episode is this: You cannot become a stronger runner by just running. There will come a point when you'll hit a barrier, and t...

Last weekend, I headed to Arizona to crew and coach a handful of She Runs Ultras athletes at the Hypnosis Night Race - an overnight trail event put on Aravaipa Running.
