The series continues. Realities we avoid acknowledging that can provide us with strength, grit and self-sufficiency. They seem grim on the surface, but are troves of wisdom that help us be mindful empowered service professionals. This one is about personal responsibility.
All of this is true:
The “personal” aspect of personal responsibility needs to be emphasized here. You aren’t responsible for the experiences of others…and yet you will find that you get infinitely better results by being considerate of them.
You don’t need to feel deficient just because someone responded negatively to something you said or did - that was their choice. You just need to show up with care, attention and understanding.
You serve well when you know that you are free to do and act in whichever way that you choose to. And the choice to always do what is best for you and the situation is always available. You are free to be bold, fierce and confrontational, or gracious and accommodating - know when you are on the right end of the spectrum in any given situation.
You will be resilient to challenging environments by never having a victim mentality. Ultimately anything anyone says is harmless. Victimization is simply a belief you form.
You are worthy to work somewhere where you are protected from abuse and harassment. And you are strong enough to protect others from it. Break your beliefs that you are sentenced to serve somewhere that doesn’t care about their people.
