In the October 2023 discussion on Shadal and Ohev Ger, Klein and the host discuss why the facsimile edition of Ohev Ger excluded the introduction. I would suggest (coming out of my doctoral research) that its disappearance reflects Shadal’s change of opinion on the accuracy of his introduction. Through the influence of Shir et al., Shadal later changed his opinion on the origins of Targum Onqelos to a less conservative viewpoint.

Love all the podcasts! Especially the recent series on Spanish Jewry and the ten Shvatim. Nachi does a great job on steering the topics in the right direction.

Nachi is a great host and asks the questions the audience would. A great mix of experts and books from the wide world of Jewish scholarship from the yeshivah to the university.

Nachie’s individual interests lead him to interview a broad range of scholars across the yeshiva and academic world and to discuss topics spanning the millennia. While some controversial topics are clearly avoided, there’s ample material here for the interested layperson of any religious stripe. The interviews and audio quality may not be as polished as that of professional podcasts, but that adds to the charm of the conversations much more than it detracts. An essential listen for anyone interested in contemporary Jewish scholarship as curated by a traditional Orthodox scholar.

Very impressive

This is the best podcast out there for anyone interested in true Jewish bibliography. Great mix of guests spans the gamut from Orthodox Hareidi to non-Jewish. Nachi makes sure to find the biggest experts in their respective fields and brings their scholarship to the general Orthodox audience.

Although this podcast is ostensibly free of charge- be prepared to spend a great deal on many seforim and books that are discussed here. After listening to each excellent episode, it’s hard to resist the urge to go see the literatures with your own eyes…

Superb interviews with outstanding balance of macro and micro Jewish history of communities, movements, Rabbis, halakhah, Kabbalah and core personalities. Fascinating.

Growing up frum and spending 6 years in yeshiva I thought I knew the Jewish world. Seforimchatter has introduced me to a whole new hemisphere. Jewish Academia is not as secular as it sounds and there are a lot of people out there putting in years of effort discovering things which can really enrich your appreciation of yidishkeit; its history and bringing the rishonim and achorinim you’re familiar with to life. Outside of history there is also a lot of interesting sforim to hear about that can also enrich your yidishkeit. Thank you very much Nachi for the amazing work that you do!
