Opening Song:

I Will Sing by Leslie Jordan and Sandra McCracken

Lyrics:

With my mouth I will tell of Your faithfulness
I'll declare Lord Your covenant with my life

I will sing of the Lord's great love forever

I will sing of the Lord's great love
I will sing of the Lord's great love forever
I will sing oh I will sing

Lord You are the glory of all our strength

Your presence along the way for all our days

Oh Lord God Almighty who is like You

Oh Lord God Almighty none beside You
Oh Lord God Almighty
All the earth and sky belong to You

Of His great love I will sing

Passage:

20 I have found David, my servant;
with my holy oil I have anointed him,
21 so that my hand shall be established with him;
my arm also shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not outwit him;
the wicked shall not humble him.
23 I will crush his foes before him
and strike down those who hate him.
24 My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him,
and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 I will set his hand on the sea
and his right hand on the rivers.
26 He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father,
my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’
27 And I will make him the firstborn,
the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 My steadfast love I will keep for him forever,
and my covenant will stand firm[d] for him.
29 I will establish his offspring forever
and his throne as the days of the heavens.

Musical Reflection:

Harp Meditation No. 2 by Gretchen Kirby

Reflection Notes:

This modal meditation centers around an intervallic pattern in the right hand that is anchored by deep bass octaves in the left hand and occasional supportive harmonies. Though somewhat haunting, the melodic motif provokes reflection.

Prayer:

O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
