Opening Song:

From the Rising of the Sun by Sandra McCracken

Lyrics:

Hallelujah give praise you servants
Praise the name of the Lord
Let the name of the Lord be blessed
For now and forevermore

From the rising of the sun to its going down

Let the name of the Lord be praised
From the rising of the sun

The Lord is high above all nations

And His glory above the heavens
Who is like the Lord our God
Who sits enthroned on high
Who is like the Lord our God
Stoops to behold the heavens and the earth

Passage:

Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!

2 Blessed be the name of the Lord

from this time forth and forevermore!
3 From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!

4 The Lord is high above all nations,

and his glory above the heavens!
5 Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
6 who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?
7 He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
8 to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
9 He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.
Praise the Lord!

Musical Reflection:

“Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us,” tune by William Bradbury

Reflection Notes:

The tune BRADBURY is named for its composer, a New Englander from the first half of the nineteenth century. The sweet melody for the verses repeats, then is followed by a strong refrain.

Prayer:

O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to the beginning of this day: Defend us by your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor run into any danger; and that, guided by your Spirit, we may do what is righteous in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
