Passage:So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;[b] not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”(1 Peter Song:The King of Love My Shepherd Is by Henry Williams Baker, sung by KoineLyrics: The king of love my shepherd isWhose goodness fails me neverI nothing lack if I am hisAnd he is mine foreverWhere streams of living water flowA ransomed soul he leads meAnd where the fertile pastures growWith food from heaven feeds mePerverse and foolish I have strayedBut in his love he sought meAnd on his shoulder gently laidAnd home rejoicing brought meIn death's dark vale I fear no illWith you dear Lord beside meYour rod and staff my comfort stillYour cross before to guide meYou spread a banquet in my sightOf grace beyond all knowingAnd oh the wonder and delightFrom your pure chalice flowingAnd so through all the length of daysYour goodness fails me neverGood Shepherd may I sing your praiseWithin your house for everPrayer:This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words, and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen.
