As a sophomore-college student from North Carolina, I can let you know that a lot of the issues with my race were very much prevalent and noticeable to not just the staffs and educators but to the students as well. I can tell you that hearing encouraging words from my own previous teachers helped me secure my future profession. It was always frowned upon by the individuals round me when I stated that I did want to teach for a few years, because it was something that I’d considered doing. Being apart of the LGBTQ+ community and being black, it has always been an issue with being able to express myself, and for those around me with power to understand that expression. But after hearing you all speak, it made me realize that most of the people that stayed in a specific area with me during lunch didn’t feel comfortable in their surroundings like I did. You all are doing great and you have a new subscriber, LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT WEEK!

I am a white teacher and I just listened to the Black in Education Part 1: Definitely doing some serious reflecting on how I have been a gate keeper to white supremacy in the different schools I have worked in, and reflecting how to keep dismantling that as an educator going forward. Looking forward to the upcoming episodes!
