What if one of the biggest obstacles to your success isn't your marketing, your team, or your finances...
What if it's your inability to stay present?
In this episode, Dr. Fred and Dr. FJ Schofield explore one of the most powerful yet overlooked skills in chiropractic, business, and life: present-time focus.
From practice growth and patient care to health, relationships, and personal fulfillment, they discuss why so many doctors spend their lives trapped in the past or worrying about the future instead of fully engaging with the opportunities right in front of them.
Drawing from sports psychology, coaching, physiology, and decades of practice experience, they break down how presence impacts performance and why the doctors who thrive are often the ones who can focus on what matters most in the moment.
You'll also hear powerful insights on:
- Why "Now Here" and "Nowhere" may be closer than you think
- The connection between stress, physiology, and focus
- How breathing can instantly shift your state of mind
- Why chiropractors often lose joy by constantly living in the future
- The importance of coaching, association, and accountability
- How visualization helps create a compelling future without losing the present
- Why health and energy remain your greatest long-term assets
- How to stop replaying old mistakes and start moving forward
Because the quality of your future is built by what you do in the present moment.
And the doctors who stay present are often the ones who create the greatest impact.
"Be now here... or be nowhere." – Dr. Fred
Weekly Action Challenge
This week, begin noticing how often your mind leaves the present moment.
When you're with a patient, be with the patient.
When you're with your family, be with your family.
When you're exercising, exercise.
When you're resting, rest.
Choose one simple practice to help you become more present:
- Take 5 slow, deep breaths before entering the office each morning
- Put your phone away during dinner
- Spend 5 minutes journaling your thoughts onto paper
- Take a short walk without listening to anything
- Pause between patients and reset your focus
The goal isn't to eliminate distractions.
The goal is to become aware of them.
Because growth happens in the present.
Not in yesterday.
Not in tomorrow.
Right now.
