Maddie McGarvey is a photographer and photojournalist based in Columbus, Ohio. She currently works with major publications like The New York Times, Washington Post, National Geographic, CNN, Rolling Stone, and ESPN among others covering some of the nations biggest news and stories. Her behind the scenes look at these stories has granted her access into experiencing sorrow, loss, grief, and neglect first hand. Maddie speaks about seeing people where they are, listening to their stories honestly, and then capturing their narrative to convey the power of their human experience to the world. She also talks about her own grief with the loss of her dad and how she relied on her community to support her throughout her continued healing process.
