I send episodes to my elderly grandparents - in particular the interview with the Tulsa PD detective describing recent trends in scams. He covered so many and explained them in a way non-technically savvy people can understand. elderly folks love to send around articles and videos to family and friends, so I find sending them Scammer Stories episodes - saying “here’s the latest trends in scams, they keep getting craftier, keep an eye out” - is well received and taken seriously. My only note is that I wish the host’s tone was more compassionate to victims. I know her mother was scammed out of a huge amount of money and she was frustrated that her mom was ignoring her warnings, but have found that a tone of mocking the victim’s common sense makes other victims shut down. If the tone was neutral toward victims, families who have already caught their loved ones falling for small scale scams or phishing attempts can send more episodes to the loved one to proactively educate them on bigger and more devastating scams.

I’m so thankful for this podcast. This is the first meaningful support I have found. I am a family member of a victim and the stress has been overwhelming. After listening to other stories, I do not feel like I am crazy for establishing boundaries. I want to help as an advocate for victims and families in the future. Right now, I’m prayerfully taking it one day at a time.

Listening to a few episodes of this podcast really helped to warn me of the dangers of romance scams.

I would like to listen to some longer episodes or perhaps 2 part episodes.

Great intent for the show, but do you bother to vet your guests at all? I had smoke coming out of my nose because of black magic…..? Really? She borrowed a150k from her friends but she can never pay back ?… idk she seems like the scammer to me. My son is in the military and part of the “higher ranks” who are good - steady not like the lower ones? And you left stuff like that in your podcast? The scammers are supported by “African government “. ? I mean if you want to be taken seriously- edit your interviews and bet your sources.
