Scaled Down Podcast
This is a podcast in which we talk to people in the creative world (musicians, artists, authors, actors, etc.) about how their relationships work. How their spouses find the best ways to support them, even if that means being apart for long periods of time. How communication works with distance. And, most importantly, how they have succeeded or failed to do so.

Episode 25 - Is This Boring?
"Every relationship will get "boring" after you've been together for years. Love isn't a feeling, it's a commitment. To love every day physically, and emotionally. It is difficult. It's not always laughs, smiles, and fun. People tend to quit when it stops being fun, and they go look for someone else, because the "Spark" is gone. No, that's not how it works. You want somebody to never give up on you, and love you unconditionally, then do the same. Be the change. This isn't Hollywood, this isn't the movies. That shit isn't real. Love someone when you don't want to, when  they aren't the easiest to deal with. When they're hard to love. That's the realist shit there is."We read this as we were doing a walk, and got inspired to make this the center of this weeks episode. Every single person who has ever been in a relationship either knows this feeling or has been guilty of doing everything in their power to avoid it. Everyone falls into a rut at some point. The way we react is crucial to the survival of ourselves or the other people in our lives. Why do we allow ruts to overtake and infect our relationships to the point that they completely fall apart? Why do we alienate each other if we feel that something is missing, yet in our careers we are willing to fight for change? This was an interesting, on the fly episode because we both have a lot of personal experience with this one. Also, considering Bethany is and INFJ and Brad is an INFP, we tend to observe a lot of behaviors in our lives. The nitty gritty is, boredom is often the side effect of lost and missed communication. If you find yourself feeling bored, maybe it is worth a check in, or a deep look into where your motivations lie within your relationship. We hope you enjoy this weeks chat, and hope to see all the shares and tags! Stay tuned for next week. We have a few ideas up our sleeves!Support the show

Episode 24 - Happy Valloween!
So....Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so what better way to celebrate it than by talking about all of the things that have nothing to do with it?We go through a bunch of (probably made up) facts about Valentine's Day, and how it is celebrated around the world. Most of the time, we get off topic because, hey, we are very tired. We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day in our house because it is just 3 days after our middle child's birthday, but we try to get in the spirit for the sake of the show.Although, there is a sneaking feeling in the house that we may have gotten each other something, just for the fact of getting it...But, shhh. It's a secret!Hopefully we will be back full force next week with an episode diving into more of how our relationship works. Although, this episode is very much an example of what most of our days are like.Don't forget to leave us a rating and review! Maybe, just maybe, share the show with your friends and colleagues whom you have a grudge against!Until next week, know, you are loved!Happy Valentine's Day everybody!!!Support the show

Episode 23 - Sacrifices in Marriage!
This week we are back with the next in the "Fan Topic" series...Sort of. Brad wrote this episode on the fly right before we hit record based on conversations and interactions we have had as of late.We dive into what we feel we have sacrificed for each other in order to make our marriage work. What we feel we sacrifice for our children. We end up talking about how our personality types play a role into how we communicate with each other. This hits a chord as we had just had a day in which this was discussed a lot. Bethany feeling like she was not giving Brad the opportunity to speak his mind. We dive into how we both handled this conversation. The best part is that we got to discuss our tribe. Both in this home, and the people we get to choose to spend our time with. We hope you enjoy this dive into a bit of our inner workings, and we challenge you to let us know on all of the socials, what is your personality type within the Myers-Briggs system? As always, thanks for listening! If you feel like leaving us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts, it is much appreciated. Until next week, spread the word and love each other!Support the show

Episode 22 - Planning a Wedding During a Pandemic!
This week we are back with something a little lighter than the episode from last week. Plus, it brings us back to our favourite day. The day of our wedding! We discuss the things from the moment of engagement, to setting a date, finding a venue and everything else that follows to make a wedding happen. On top of planning, the monkey wrench of the coronavirus was thrown into the mix. We had a lot to think about leading into the big day, but ultimately, we got married and had an amazing time surrounded by our loved ones.Aside from the tangent about muppets, we do dive into what it took to make it all happen amidst the uncertainty that life was put in during 2020. We hope you enjoy the lighter tone of this episode, and as always, feel free to reach out on the many platforms you can find us. Instagram, Twitter and Facebook to mention a few.We look forward to seeing you next week, and look forward to the hundreds of reviews that will happen between now and then!Support the show

Episode 21 - Journey of Survival!
This week, we are back with the 2nd episode of the 6 part "Fan Request Topic" series. If you cannot tell from the title, this episode is about our lives and the journeys that we both went through to get to this point of our lives. There is a lot to unpack in this one. Brad talks about the abuse that he went through as a child and his suicide attempt, and then onto adult life and the further abuse that he dealt with. Bethany speaks as well about her childhood and the multiple suicide attempts, and the further physical and emotional abuse she went through as an adult who got married at a young age. This one gets a little rocky as we both think back on the things we went through, and where things are going. If you, or anyone you know may have insurmountable feelings of depression or anxiety, please call the suicide prevention hotline at 1-800-273-8255. You could save a life! And finally...To add a bit of positivity to the world, we listen to the latest track by our favourite clown who formerly worked at a Leprechaun museum, Nathan Mac. This one is a duet between he and his sister. The title of this one is "Domestic Wars" as is available on all streaming platforms! We will see you all next week! If you feel saucy and want to leave us a rating and review on apple podcasts, we would surely appreciate it and know that you are loved!Support the show

Episode 20 - Peace In Creativity?
We are back this week with the first of a series of fan request topics. This week we tackle the question of; How does the path to creativity lead to joy and peace?Well...The answer may surprise you. We delve into this from both of our perspectives. Brad being a professional touring musician, as well as a newly established solo recording artist. Bethany, who is a previously published children's book writer and continues to refine her manuscripts. We also go down a rabbit hole about the things that Covid has changed in our lives, as well as the many things that happen behind the scenes while recording an episode and sharp objects are left near Brad. This was a fun little chat, and hopefully will give a long answer to a short question. Seriously, it's complicated! We look forward to seeing you all with our voices next week!Support the show

Episode 19 - Now With Sweaty Ears?
Hey...Hey you...Yeah you...We're back! It has been a bit of time since you heard our amazing voices and our skewed perspective of the world...Things have happened, and things have changed. For starters, we got freakin' married in the middle of the global pandemic! The U.S. election sent the world into a deep state of depression and anxiety. We both had very tough times post wedding,  getting over the state of the world, and the sheer amount of weight that we both seemed to be carrying because of it. The thought of doing the podcast was there, but it was kind of like a running joke...The things that were...But, now we are back and ready for 2021 in new and inspired ways. We have new goals for ourselves and our family. We have goals for this podcast and things beyond. The mantra, "New Year, New Me" is a cliché that neither of us really believes in, but, the prospect of a different year has us feeling some kind of hope. We have both realized that doing things in spite of not wanting to is something that we are both going to have to push each other to do. If anybody out there decides to listen to our silly little show, then, great! But, we need this for each other. We have plenty more in store, and can't wait to see where 2021 takes us!At the end of the episode we feature our friend and past guest Nathan Mac and his single "The Boy Who Learned to Fly". It is fitting for our return and is also a big inspiration as to why we will push on!See you next week!Support the show
