In this episode of Sasquatch Theory, I sit down with filmmaker and Bigfoot researcher Jason Kenzie, creator of the Searching for Sasquatch series. Jason has traveled throughout Canada and the United States interviewing eyewitnesses and investigating some incredible reports surrounding the Sasquatch phenomenon. Jason shares his experiences speaking with First Nations people in Canada, who told him about what they referred to as the Sasquatch people. They showed Jason an area where they believed the creatures traveled, and while investigating the location, Jason discovered impressive tracks and what was described to him as a possible migration path. But some of Jason's most intense experiences would come later while investigating the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Deep in the forest, Jason and his fellow researchers discovered unusual tree structures, twisted trees, fresh breaks, and trees pushed across trails. After deciding to spend the night in a hammock tent, Jason smelled an awful, rotten odor and heard strange howls in the distance. Then something approached his hammock. Jason heard a loud crack followed by footsteps coming toward him. He says he could actually feel the vibrations through the hammock before something came close enough to grunt directly into his ear. And the activity didn't stop there. During continued investigations, the team experienced unexplained footsteps, fresh tree breaks, strange vocalizations, and mysterious eye shine that appeared to watch them from the darkness. One researcher using a high-end thermal device also reported observing something near their camp. Jason describes another frightening encounter in which he believes he witnessed two possible Sasquatch—one moving incredibly fast and another appearing to crawl away before disappearing into the forest. After reviewing his footage, Jason also noticed unexplained eye shine behind him. Jason even discusses recordings that he believes may have captured Sasquatch communicating back and forth in the wilderness. What was surrounding these researchers in the Michigan woods? On this episode of Sasquatch Theory, I interview Dan from northern Minnesota about a series of strange experiences that he and his family have had in the remote wilderness near Lake Superior. Dan’s family owns a secluded 40-acre property overlooking Lake Superior where they spend time hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring the surrounding forests. Approximately 15 years ago, Dan was on a fishing trip with a friend near Echo Lake when something suddenly woke him in the middle of the night. Coming from the surrounding wilderness was an extremely strange and powerful sound. Dan describes it as sounding almost like an air horn, but it appeared to be an unknown animal vocalizing repeatedly. Along with the vocalizations, they could hear what sounded like something pounding the ground. Neither Dan nor his friend has forgotten what they heard that night. The area also contained an abundance of raspberries and other natural resources that could potentially attract wildlife. Dan’s family has experienced other unexplained activity in northern Minnesota as well. His brother-in-law once heard a terrifying vocalization coming from a cedar swamp that he described as sounding like a “mountain gorilla.” During another experience, Dan and his son were hunting in the Chippewa National Forest when they suddenly developed a bad feeling about the area and decided to leave. As they made their way out, they discovered a freshly broken branch that had been torn from a tree and left directly in the middle of the trail. Dan’s main encounter occurred in the Silver Bay region near Lake Superior—an area surrounded by vast stretches of northern forest. On this episode of Sasquatch Theory, I sit down with Hugh Knight from NW Yeti Quest to discuss his incredible experiences and ongoing Sasquatch research in Washington State. Hugh describes an encounter where he was able to observe a Sasquatch for nearly an hour as it moved through a remote canyon. After spending more time investigating the surrounding region, Hugh believes he discovered an area where these creatures may be living. Hidden within the dense conifer forests of the Pacific Northwest, Hugh began documenting unusual formations including upside-down trees driven into the ground, arches, tree breaks, and other strange structures. He has also discovered salmon placed in trees, elk remains, and rocks that appear to have been deliberately moved or arranged. On this episode of Sasquatch Theory, I interview Dave from Michigan about a series of strange experiences that followed him through different stages of his life. Dave grew up on a farm near a swamp and spent much of his time outdoors hunting and exploring the surrounding wilderness. Long before he knew much about Sasquatch, he began experiencing things he couldn't easily explain. While walking through a field one summer, Dave heard something thrashing through the woods and caught sight of what appeared to be bipedal legs moving through the forest. At the time, he assumed it might have been a hunter or trespasser. Other strange incidents followed around the swamp and nearby state forest. Dave experienced an overwhelming feeling that he needed to leave the area as the woods suddenly became quiet. His brother later heard something large and heavy following him while hunting in the same swamp. During another hunt, Dave heard a massive tree crash behind his blind. He would later learn about a reported sighting from the 1980s in the same general area. After moving to Northern Michigan, the unusual activity continued. Dave describes rocks apparently being thrown near him, a dead rabbit found near his property, possible activity around his chicken coop, strange tree breaks and structures, and unusual discoveries while mountain biking—including part of a fawn left along a trail near a road appropriately named "Bigfoot Road." Then came Dave's most dramatic experience. While grilling burgers outside his home, Dave noticed something peeking from behind his shed. He describes seeing an approximately six-foot-tall, black, hairy bipedal creature with a face that was not completely covered in hair. The creature suddenly ran toward the field before diving into the trees. On this episode of Sasquatch Theory, I interview Kathleen about a series of unexplained encounters she experienced while hunting and camping near Prairie Lake in northern Minnesota. During one hunting trip, Kathleen heard a large animal approach her tent and move around her campsite during the night. The following morning, while sitting approximately 15 feet above the ground in her deer stand, she used a doe call and suddenly began hearing powerful pounding sounds coming from three different directions in the surrounding woods. When Kathleen eventually climbed down from her stand, she could hear the animals moving away through the thick vegetation. While exploring the area, she discovered a strange igloo-like structure made from numerous small saplings that appeared to have been woven together. Later, while walking through an extremely thick and dark section of black spruce, Kathleen noticed what appeared to be a black shadow following her along the trail. She initially wondered if wolves were moving through the timber, but she was never able to determine exactly what she had encountered. A few days later, Kathleen remembers seeing a news report involving teenagers who reportedly claimed to have seen a Bigfoot near Prairie Lake. Kathleen also shares another unexplained hunting experience from northern Wisconsin. After hearing a tree come crashing down and getting an uneasy feeling about the area, she later checked her trail camera and discovered a strange figure in one of the images. Deep in the redwood forests of Humboldt County, California, Jake experienced something terrifying while traveling through Northern California at just 16 years old. During his journey through a small remote town, Jake encountered a horrible smell coming from the woods and heard something large moving through the forest near him. On this episode of Sasquatch Theory, I interview Mark from Colorado, an experienced hunter, trapper, bowhunter, and outdoorsman who has spent decades exploring the mountains and backcountry of the American West. Mark grew up on a farm in northeast Nebraska and eventually moved to Montrose, Colorado, in 1987. As he spent more time trapping, hunting, camping, Jeeping, and exploring remote areas of Colorado, he began experiencing strange events that he couldn't explain. Early experiences included animals mysteriously disappearing from his traps and an overpowering musky odor that Mark would encounter again years later. While sitting on a mountainside, he also experienced small green pine cones being thrown in his direction. During another camping trip, Mark witnessed what appeared to be a massive hand slowly pressing against the side of his tent. His experiences continued in areas around Silverton, Norwood, Grand Mesa, the San Juan Mountains, and the Uncompahgre Plateau. One of Mark's most detailed encounters occurred in a secluded meadow on the Uncompahgre Plateau. Mark describes watching a jet-black, heavily muscled primate-like creature rise from behind a log before eventually moving across the meadow on all fours. He was able to observe its face, body proportions, hands, feet, hair, and unusual movement in broad daylight. When Mark attempted to follow the creature, he began hearing what he describes as mouth pops or knocks coming from different directions. He quickly realized the creature he had seen might not have been alone. Mark also shares an encounter with what he believes was a juvenile Sasquatch while traveling through the northern Rocky Mountain region, along with an unusual experience near Norwood, Colorado, where he repeatedly heard a male voice in his mind telling him, “You can't camp here.” Toward the end of our conversation, Mark discusses his personal beliefs regarding the origin and nature of Sasquatch, including his belief that they may have a connection to the Nephilim. These are Mark's personal interpretations of his experiences, and viewers can decide for themselves what they believe. In this episode of Sasquatch Theory, I interview Heywood from the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana about a series of strange encounters experienced by him and members of his family. One of Heywood's earliest experiences began when he heard what sounded like a little girl screaming near the family's barn late at night. Heywood prayed and used traditional practices taught within his family. By the following day, his father discovered something disturbing near the barn—a barbed-wire fence had been pulled down, fence posts had been broken and bent, and part of the fence had been dragged approximately fifteen yards away. His family believed something extremely powerful had moved through the area. Another frightening incident occurred during the winter when Heywood's younger brother came running toward the house claiming he had seen Bigfoot outside. Heywood used a spotlight and saw a massive figure near the woodline that he estimated to be over seven feet tall. His younger sister, Otter, also witnessed the creature and described it as huge, with long hair, quick strides, and partially white coloration. Heywood later had another encounter while outside with friends. At first, he thought a horse or cow had gotten loose, but the massive figure suddenly bolted down a hill. He heard two tremendous thuds before the creature somehow began moving almost silently through extremely thick vegetation. Heywood noticed what appeared to be a white patch of hair on its leg, and his friend Olivia also witnessed the strange activity. The experiences extend even further into Heywood's family history. On this episode, I interview Dillon from Louisiana. Dillon grew up hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with family. His experiences began at a young age after he and a friend explored woods near a creek and crossed onto neighboring property where they discovered the skeleton of a deer. Near a pond, they began hearing voices coming from the woods. Moments later, Dillon’s friend noticed something crouched down in the brush. He described a massive figure with broad shoulders making loud huffing and puffing sounds before they ran back home. Years later while squirrel hunting in Kisatchie National Forest, Dillon noticed movement in the timber and caught sight of a dark black shoulder disappearing behind a tree. The strange activity didn’t stop there. Dillon’s father experienced repeated tapping on a window that sat unusually high off the ground. His brother later reported seeing a massive white hairy creature outside at night. Dillon’s grandmother also shared stories of seeing a large hairy arm reaching toward a window and another encounter she associated with a reptilian “lizard man” type creature. Today on Sasquatch Theory, I sit down live with author and longtime Sasquatch researcher Christopher Noël from Vermont, creator of the Impossible Visits YouTube channel and author of several books exploring the mysteries surrounding the Sasquatch phenomenon. Christopher has spent years studying witness reports, habituation sites, Sasquatch behavior, and some of the more controversial aspects of the Bigfoot mystery. His 2009 book, Impossible Visits: The Inside Story of Interactions with Sasquatch at Habituation Sites, examined reports from researchers and witnesses who experienced ongoing activity in areas believed to be inhabited by Sasquatch.
