I love this podcast and still check it sometimes hoping to see an “I’m back!” Episode. I hope he starts doing it again as it’s absolutely hilarious. I keep trying to think how to describe it but I’m at a loss. Trust me and listen to it. It’s amazing

The show is decent, I guess. But the host, and his ostentatious presentation and bad jokes have ruined it for me after about three episodes. Sounds like a tabloid journalist.

I am so sad that Rusty Hinges is coming to an end! When I heard the news at the start of the newest show, I kept hoping it was a joke! Hopefully one day it will return, as it’s my favorite podcast by far!

The stories are told with a dry wit that I adore. Good podcasts are hard to find. Bravo Lars 👏 When are you coming back? Three months is unbearable. I want you & Charlie to continue to podcast.

But I really prefer Lars’ voice in earlier episodes. Sometimes I feel like he is over the top “silly” as if reading to his little ones. BUT- this podcast is super creative, witty, original. I love these right before bed. Charlie from Crimelines is the host’s partner and writer to boot!!!!

I love this podcast. I Discovered it via Crimelines. I love the sarcasm and humor. It’s smart, funny, and entertaining. Please check it out. The format is hard to explain, but it’s a must-listen!

If I had the money to support a podcast this is the one I would support. So here’s my five star review instead. The sarcastic take on these stories makes even the familiar ones interesting.

Stop doing that with your voice and speak like a normal person and I might actually be able to get through an episode. It’s not clever. It’s just annoying.

The host’s fresh, witty delivery of these mostly unique and always interesting stories makes Rusty Hinges an instant favorite. Lars’ storytelling feels like something narrated in The Royal Tenenbaums or Arrested Development. I can’t seem to get enough. Please keep them coming!

I can’t get past the host. The awful, lazy, low effort jokes and snotty delivery takes away from the story. If the guy could just tone it down till he actually has a good joke every now and then, but he shoe-horns in this garbage relentlessly.

I am not one of your three closest friends but I am a big fan. I listen to every episode when it pops up. I love your delivery, it cracks me up. The content is always interesting and, even if it is a story I am familiar with, you tell it in such a way that I don’t recognize it until we’re well into thing. I appreciate you and this podcast. I understand that you can’t make content for your three closest friends and a housewife in michigan but couldn’t let you think yourself unloved.

Snarkiness isn’t for everyone, and I don’t particularly like it when it’s not well done. On this podcast, it’s well done. Lars has great timing, chooses cases well, and always highlights the most absurd aspects of his subjects. He has a great voice and a delightful sense of dry humor. I’m a huge true-crime fan, with wide knowledge of the field, but he finds cases with which I’m not familiar, which is another plus for me. This is what a podcast ought to be!

Host is not just someone who “thinks” he’s funny but is really just loud and annoying. Perfect combination of great true crime and smart wit - be warned, you may spit out your coffee from unexpected bursts of laughter.

This podcast has so much potential. It has interesting content and good sound quality. It’s clearly well produced. But it’s essentially ruined by the host’s bizarre persona and delivery. The pacing and pauses are unpleasant to hear, and I think the tone and inflection are meant to be cute, but they just come across as smug.

Why have such a great radio voice but use such dip—— inflections? Sounds like my second son in his last year of college major in mass comm. when he did jack—- voices to imitate certain broadcasters.You have good stories I will say.Practice your delivery!Thanks!

I love the stories, but I frequently get annoyed by the nonstop snarky tone. If used sparingly, it could be funny. But many times I feel like you are expressing your disdain for your listeners. I’m just not sure what’s up here.

Agree completely with the reviewer who said, “Paul Lynde does True Crime.” Indeed, the delivery is non-clever and childishly snotty ( with some bad grammar, no less. Lol ). On one episode the dull host— in referring to the Bible— actually says, “ but King James is dead and I am not.” Whaaaaaaat ???? Billions of people know who King James is but who has ever heard of you, dull host ??? And after listening to this podcast let’s keep it way. A dud !

I’m very picky with my podcasts and hesitate when trying a new one. I like how this one is delivered with humor in the content. It isn’t tasteless humor like others do but is a dry humor. A new and refreshing way of presenting the story.

Lars is hysterical! This pod is a new top fave! Very well written and delivered. Fun and hilarious.

Host has a great voice, but what’s with the infliction at the end of every word on these podcasts? Every sentence sounds like he could be asking a question. Sarcasm is funny on occasion but gets a bit overused in some episodes.

This pod helps me relax before bed... if you don't take is super serious & enjoy the stories, it's fun. Appreciate it for the story (& delivery) as well as the snark, BONUS: there won't be mindless (not even funny/sarcastic) banter for 20 min prior to what you are there for! Lars: You're doing it right!

The host ruins the show. Stop with the stupid accent and cheesy jokes. It’s true crime. Not a tryout for a stand up comedian show.

Lara is one of the only podcasters I’m happy to listen to covering a case Ive heard before. It’s always entertains hearing his take on a case.
