Is it possible to have communion with God through the Bible? If so, How?

In the first episode of this semester's podcast series on communion with God, Danny gives an introduction to the idea of communion and how it emerges from the Bible as a whole!

In this episode, Danny and Kelsey (finally) get to what has come to be known as the “Protestant Reformation,” its major protagonist, Martin Luther, and the Church’s response to his call for theological reform in the Western Church (it wasn’t so great).

In this episode, Danny and Kelsey continue telling the origin story of the “R” in RUF, tracing the moral and theological decline in the Western church that made some sort of reform necessary. It is an insane story.

Buckle up and get ready for a journey (from 30,000 feet) through the first thousand years of the story of the Church!

For many students, their experience of university as an institution feels miles away from any sort Christian influence, and might be surprised to learn that this was not always the case. In this episode Danny and Kelsey trace the connection between the mega-institutions that are modern universities and the medieval Church, showing how Christian theology and its interest in exploring the world God made and set us in has fueled a centuries-long interest in exploration and inquiry that birthed the modern university which still endures today.

In our second episode of "A Story to Tell" Danny and Kelsey follow up on last week's Fireside Chat (see our youtube channel RUF at UW) with a conversation about the different ways cultures have undertaken the process of entering into a romantic relationship (sometimes with precious little romance), and how that might help us make deal with the crazy-making experience of modern dating.

For our first episode in this series, Kelsey and Danny talk about Christianity and Pandemics. Specifically about how Christians have thought about suffering, how that has been applied in history, and what that means for us today.
