Hate the new releases
I used to love RM. but now all of the episode focus on stories in mainstream media. Sometimes there are random episodes in between that just seem to be filler. It starts off recovering and by the end it just makes no sense. I also hate these multi-part episodes. Again, some of it just feels like filler! A single episode that keeps it concise and prevent extra fluff is ideal. I don’t want a multi-part story on Diddy or Mackenzie Shirilla. Each week, I feel less enthusiastic about the podcast. Sometimes I listen and just tune everything about because the story telling has gotten so bad… please go back to your roots. Single episodes for a story.
And listening to story about murder and violence… only to have an add midway through on chronic urticaria is a huge turn off.

Just recently discovered this podcast. Absolutely love it. It does not sound like a podcast at all she makes it fun as if you were gossiping with a friend. I love that you get the full details of the cases toooo cuz
I’m nosey like that. Absolutely obsessed. Been binging ever since!

Is it possible that you do some more international cases
I do miss some on the international ones that you do. Please bring those back

I’m hooked.
At first, I was skeptical because the name of the podcast threw me off and seemed insensitive and also irrelevant. I listened anyway because I work a 10 hour job and needed something. I really love her story telling style, so I researched the reason behind the name and it made sense. I appreciate so much how much research goes into these episodes and how whip smart Stephanie seems to be. So glad I looked past the name and gave it a shot

Excellent content, needs work with presentation
Well researched and excellent content. The host presents her findings in an organized way that is easy to capture. However, the show is not easy on the ear, as the presenter also sounds like a high schooler (though much nicer than Shirilla!). May I kindly suggest slowing down a bit, using less filler words like “like” and “literally”, and allowing the male co-host to speak a bit more often. It’s to the point where I’m often confused whether the host is giving her own comments, or if she is impersonating Mackenzie. There is so much potential here, just needs a little improvement in presentation. Otherwise, great job!

I love it! Stephanie is great and is so professionally invested in telling the story that it really moves me. She is sensitive towards victims and appalled by the actions against them and that’s what we want!! Also, her husband really helps progress the podcast because he always asks the questions I have in my mind! I’m never thinking “wait, what, I’m confused?”
Lastly, the way she says the word “Rotten” just itches my brain in the best way possible. Haha. *I also never noticed anything political from this podcast but maybe that’s because I agree with her views* keep it up RM!!!

Mixed feelings
I was introduced to Rotten Mango for the Mackenzie Shirilla case after I saw The Crash. While I appreciate the work that was put to compile the copious amounts of data and present it in a more digestible format, there are things about the podcast that don’t make me particularly want to seek out more episodes. My curiosity has me emotionally invested in this one case, then I’ll be moving on. 1) it grated me every time she said that if a man behaved the way Mackenzie did towards Dom, that it would be abuse. She kind of corrected her stance in the 5th episode, but it was genuinely upsetting to hear her repeatedly minimize MS’s abusive behavior because of her gender. This alone turned me off to her opinions, but I mostly didn’t find them insightful to begin with. 2) Not sure what the purpose of the man in the podcast is as he interjects unnecessarily, interrupting the flow of story telling. And his mic is so freaking low, it’s not always obvious why she’s stopping mid-sentence. Then you realize it’s because she’s answering a question that doesn’t prompt any new or meaningful info. Either give him some scripted lines to actually contribute to the listening experience and turn up his mic, or just let him sit it out altogether. 3) She uses minimizing language like “unalive” and “self exit.” If you give a disclaimer at the top of your episode of the type of topics that’ll be discussed, don’t sugarcoat it later on. That type of language takes away from the gravity and seriousness of those acts.
So overall, I like the content covered, just not a fan of how it’s delivered here.

I like the show but the guy….does he lack comprehension skills or……..

Caters to Gen Z and makes true crime “trendy”
I admire Stephanie’s success and she has blown up over the years. However her storytelling is very obviously catered to her younger audience she incorporates TikTok slang to describe events which almost caricaturizes the trauma and pain experienced by victims and loved ones. She does infuse her own personal bias into the way she tells the stories, so for any new listener I would describe this podcast purely as commentary and not necessarily journalistic storytelling. It definitely feels like a friend retelling some juicy gossip over brunch which I’m sure is what her fans are looking for!

Feels like a run on sentence
I like the pod, but it feels like there’s no punctuation while you’re telling the story. For me it’s hard to follow.

Well Done and Professional
I enjoy the fact that these topics are handled with the sensitivity and respect that they warrant. Everything is incredibly well researched and presented, and the host is quick to qualify claims that are not proven in a court of law yet. Overall, this doesn’t feel entertaining but rather, educational (which in my opinion is a huge plus, it would be gross if the hosts were giggling and joking around while discussing crimes against children and vulnerable populations)

Mixed feelings - tiktok slang feels disrespectful to the victims
I have really mixed feelings about this podcast. I like how much details that Stephanie Soo gives and the cadence of her speech makes it feel like you’re gossiping with a friend instead of just hearing a script. As a disclaimer, I don’t believe that true crime will ever be ethical bc no matter how it’s framed, it’s always going to be profiting off the crime. I thought Rotten Mango was a little better about it but I noticed the uptick of the use of tiktok slang and censorship.
If the Rotten Mango team ever reads this, please just use the words “suicide” and “murder” instead of “unalive” or “self exit”. I understand that lingo is always evolving but this slang came about by trying to bypass tiktok censorship - but in itself, I feel like has BECOME the censorship in everyday speech. To not be upfront about it feels very disrespectful. In one of the episodes, she even says the word “corn” instead of what it’s actually meaning. It makes the situation feel not as serious and again, disrespects the actual crime that took place and the victims.

Phenomenal
I have always liked true crime idk why. Stephanie and her husband do a phenomenal job at explaining and executing these chilling stories.I also like how many there are. They are trying their best to keep us updated. Thank you for these!

Love the show
Love your show! I enjoy your clear communicate with all these interesting(crazy) cases. Only criticism would be…to change or take off the guy in your show who doesn’t seem interested or doesn’t really seem to know what’s going on? All I get from your “co-host” is “ohhh” “I c” “wow” “haha” the single words liners are killing me!

As a student, her fast paced talking and great storytelling keeps me engaged and I am able to complete tasks quicker because it keeps my attention! Love this podcast.

I love this show. It’s my go to when mowing the lawn or trying to get stuff done
This show will have you oooo-ing and ahh-ing and will genuinely leave you speechless or even make you cry at time. Extremely well researched for every single episode and Stephanie and her hubby draw you in and it’s a show I’m always waiting for the next episode to pop up to listen to it.

Episode suggestion…
I am from the mid Ohio Valley, you should look into some of the missing persons and some of the unsolved cases in this area. They just this week indicted and arrested a man for the Gretchen Fleming case, who went missing in December of 2022…

icantrememberBUTTTT..
Sstehamos and the other person do really nicely when explaining things. The husband i believe it is asks the exact same questions sometimes and i feel like that helps the community really understand and grasp what was said in a the podcast. thank you stephanieeee!!

Great true crime podcast!
I love true crime stuff but sometimes it’s presents too “cold”. But Rotten Mango presents cases with real reactions. Feels like I’m listening to a friend tell me about a case. Love her husband’s interjections to ask for clarity or to add to the “wtf!” reaction.

Js weird
Honestly it's kind of weird that people are hating on Stephanie's personality and voice. I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's js odd to me that you have to comment on something like that.

I can listen to Stephanie and her hubby talk about all kinds of cases ALL DAY! Love them so much!

Stephanie and her husband are great
Both of them are so compassionate and kind while telling some pretty gnarly true crime stories. She’s sound some insane stuff so def worth it to listen. I advise watching on YouTube as well because it’s easier to follow her path. Sometimes she’s giving her opinion, sometimes she’s quoting someone, but she doesn’t change her voice at all so it can be hard to tell.
Sometimes her reliance on netizens is annoying because they’re just online commentators that don’t know anything actually real. It’s just opinion. But can be interesting input. I prefer her thoughts 💭. Well done podcast 👍

Athena
I really wanted to hear more about the case of Athena. This is the first time I’ve listened to rotten mango. I saw her two episodes about Athena, a poor little girl who was murdered, and I could hardly even listen to it. You sounded like a teenager who was gossiping in a locker room about such a serious situation. There’s some points you literally sound like a child talking in weird baby talk/ ditsy girl talk. I don’t even know how to explain it. Most points you were talking so fast. It’s hard to even keep up with the information. At minimal points throughout the two episodes you actually sounded normal like you were taking this situation seriously. Terrible.

Be careful
I’m a big fan and have been for a few years now, but I want to warn Stephanie to be careful being too vocal about her personal views. Referencing the southern poverty law center as a legitimate source of honest data is a big mistake for those of us who closely follow politics and know what they’re all about. Taking a stance on gender affirming care is another one. For many people it’s not about religion, it’s about something they find damaging to young people. Not everyone that has faith hates LGBTQ. Not every “acceptable “group is actually an honest broker. I’m still a fan, but I am exhausted, listening to practically everything out here being tainted by these political issues. Just tell the stories, Stephanie. That’s why I’m here.

Great podcast!
I’ve been listening For years and I really Appreciate the fact that she spreads awareness on the topics she covers. She donates to victims families and certain charities that help with the topic she is covering. Great example keep going!

One of the best crime podcasts I’ve listened to.The storytelling keeps me hooked every episode, and the research/detail is amazing.Greetings from Kosovo!

If you’re looking for the tempo and cadence of 48 Hours, you don’t belong here.
Grown people taking to reviews to shame Stephanie Soo’s voice and/or personality is wild. If you’re looking for the tempo and cadence of a 48 Hours or 20/20 episode…you’re right…you don’t belong here. Those of us that don’t hate happy or live in a permanent state of grumpy enjoy her exactly the way she is.

Hard to listen to
The stories for the podcast are interesting but the delivery by the host is hard to listen to and follow. She tends to talk too fast and then switches over to change in voice for dramatic effect that just doesn’t work. The way the story is being laid out just feels too chaotic.

i’m obsessed!
it sounds gossipy, but like in a good way lol? not like “omg this is so annoying” more like “omg tell me the tea” we love the banter, and it doesn’t make the dark crimes as traumatizing (haha). the only reason it’s 4 stars is that it’s a little vulgar (not ur fault) but maybe filter it a bit more?
thank you for the great pod!
(also don’t care about the people complaining about ur voice and political views, it’s ur pod, and ur voice is perfect for a podcast)
one note-could you maybe talk about when the time when stuff happened? it’s a little confusing lol.

Her voice
Like nails on a chalkboard … I checked her out because I saw she was highly recommended but she’s def overhyped. Her voice, the way she reads the transcripts, her comments … all horrible

The most important thing about this content is that it’s all interesting and it keeps you updated at all times. But his comments crack me up "𝕨𝕠𝕨" 🙄🥱😴 I'm like 🤣😂anyway I just wanted to say Stephanie and her content is amazing and I appreciate her a lot!
Someone was hating in the comments and gave a one star review and I completely disagree and sory if I sound like a baby for that, but I'm only nine.
Disagree with all reviews below 5 because Stephanie Soo is the best

Feminine, real story telling
I love this podcast. The latest episode had me in tears. I feel Stephanie does not sensationalize stories, she makes them emotionally real, so I can really “get” the subject matter. The truth is often horrifying, but I’m grateful for the empathic experience of seeing into the stories covered here. Btw, I love Stephanie’s voice, that’s the whole experience. Thanks for being you.

Bring back the unheard of cases!
I used to love this pod & been listening for years.. Lately it’s been mainstream & I wish she would go back to doing cases that are outside of US or not covered by other people /:

I miss when you covered cases in other countries. I feel the US cases are so over saturated with covering the same cases.

Couldn’t get through it
Stories are interesting but I could not get through it, the voice is so annoying and hectic to fast then weirdly change of voice from valley girl to baby voice it was tough to get through.
svargas0726
very annoying narrator
This show is for adolescent girls. The narrator comes off like a ditzy high school student who just pounded an energy drink. I’m glad she is doing well with this show, her voice and speech style was like nails on a chalkboard for me. I only lasted a few minutes.

I have watched on YouTube and listened for years! I love the podcast, but the shift lately in letting your political opinions seep into the story does nothing for it. I’m here for the story, not how you feel about things. I’ve seen many other reviews, and I’m glad I’m not alone. It’s starting to make me take a break and I hope that this changes soon.
Mumbler95
Very opinionated for true crime
Definitely puts out her political views and that’s not what I’m listening to a true crime podcast for.

Women and Woman are pronounced differently lol
I like the podcast honestly. I like the stories they’re interesting and a lot I have never heard before. My only issues is, I wish she would pronounce the word “women” correctly. She says woman and it really does turn the whole thing off for me when I hear it.

Love it! Badabing Badaboom ❤️
I love this podcast! I ❤️ listening to ur voice! Stephanie has the TALENT of being able to talk in the perfect amount of detail for things. You can tell now dedicated she is! Her Fiancé’s side comments and questions are always at the right time lol. (also ppl needa stop being rude abt ur voice/ the way y’all talk. If they don’t like it why are they listening..?)
