On the Record Wednesday presenter Fiona Bartholomaeus had the opportunity to chat to ECU Senior Research Fellow Dr Lauren Fortington about the associated signs of heat-induced illness, particularly while on bush walks as the weather starts to heat up in Perth. Rewind on RTRFM – 5 November 2021
This week, Rewind gets the goss on affairs international and close to home – and settles some longstanding debates about Australian cuisine. First up, it's an excerpt from Maddie Lombardi's meaty conversation with Prof. Paul Newmann on COP26. How have there been 25 of these things? Why is it so important now? And how has Scott Morrison managed to botch the schmoozing up so badly? (You can find that story in full [on our website](https://rtrfm.com.au/tags/cop26/).) Next, Taylah Strano catches up with cravat king and celebrity food critic Matt Preston. His new book, World of Flavour, corrects some very persistent myths – in this interview, he gives us a taster. And finally, Danae Gibson gets the inside scoop on WA's own Dynasty. Patsy Millett is the daughter and now biographer of Dame Mary Durack Miller, friend and confidante to many important writers, artists, aviators, and actors. Her new book, Inseparable Elements, draws on many first-hand sources, and seeks to set the story straight. Rewind is RTRFM's talks digest, a round-up of the station's most notable stories. Each episode features three of the most thought-provoking, timely, or surprising pieces put to air – plus a quick overview of what's been on our radar. Rewind on RTRFM – 8 October 2021
This week, Rewind digs deep into some of the hot-button issues creeping up this summer – we're talking bushfire season, the Burrup Peninsula, and the human cost of botched border reopenings. First up, it's On the Record's Jeff Bullen in robust conversation with Greg Mullins – climate activist, bushfire expert, and former Commissioner of Fire and Rescue for NSW. Greg's new book Firestorm talks about the failure of the Federal Government to take warnings about the 2019-2020 Black Summer seriously – and why we're in for much worse if we don't get our act together on climate change. Next, Maddie Lombardi chats with disability rights expert Fran Collins, author of Workplace Culture and the NDIS. Fran joined On the Record to discuss how our obsession with reopening the borders at specific percentage rates of vaccinations is putting enormous pressure on disabled people. State and Federal Governments have failed to make vaccinations accessible to a huge subsection of the Australian population – and who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19. Finally, Tim Fairbanks and Emma Lucia caught up with three members of Selfless Orchestra, an audio-visual, ecologically-engaged collection of post-rock improvisers. They have a chat about their approach to music-making and their current mission – to spread the word about Woodside's Scarborough Gas Hub project, which threatens to be the biggest polluter in Australia to date.
