In 2005 a 13 year old Laura Kirk started writing a diary, chronicling her life in a small town just north of London famed for a beautiful cinema and a 12th century castle built by William the Conquerer’s half-brother. Her adolescence in Berkhamsted was a fairly quiet life of school, boys, MSN usernames, sport, growing up awkwardly and using words like 'phwoar' and 'lush'. Laura kept a diary for six years, right up until she went to university. Now, along with her friend (unhelpfully, also called Laura), she's reading back over them and trying to make sense of the key issues - what exactly did ‘topping’ mean; why she was so anxious about going to parties with her friends; why did she make her family name their cat after a sixth former she fancied; and most importantly, why on earth was she so obsessed with England cricketer Andrew Flintoff? Berkhamsted Revisited is a romp back through those awkward teenage years, as seen through the eyes of two twenty-somethings. It's a must listen for anyone that grew up wondering what life was all about.…and how to build the funkiest MySpace profile. @revisitingpod
S8: Revisiting with Dani Harmer (Tracy Beaker)
This week we're joined by none other than Dani Harmer, who starred as Jacqueline Wilson's Tracy Beaker in the hit CBBC series. We're talking about what it was like to be a 12 year old on set - from squeezing in naps, to studying for GCSEs - as well as her brief foray in the music industry.  Dani’s also telling us how she felt when Stormzy sampled the Tracy Beaker theme in his latest album, and why a collab could be on the cards... S8 Ep10: Season 8, Episode 10: Dreams, cooking, and sleep paralysis
It's the last episode of the season, so the perfect time to discuss LK's dreams of 50 Cent, LG's terrifying experience of sleep paralysis, and why we're both still scared of the dark. We're also pondering why LG hates cooking so much, and remembering the first time LK tried to cook a meal for Winger, featuring frozen chicken fillets and a disasterous cake. This week we're looking back at the terrible songs we loved to dance to at the disco, from Crazy Frog all the way to the Cha Cha Slide. We're also remembering the weird and wonderful ways we celebrated our birthdays - while LK was hanging out in the church hall with a load of poisonous reptiles, LG was dancing along with the Funky Chicks and expecting big things from party bags.  To get in touch with questions, comments, email us on: [email protected]. S8 Ep6: Season 8, Episode 6: Landing strips, smiling at men, and International Women's Day
In honor of #InternationalWomensDay, we're getting right to the heart of what it means to be a woman - waxing and being told to smile more. We remember our first experiences of waxing - from the different techniques, to LG's strong opinions on the 'landing strip'. On today's episode we're joined by Hannah and Suruthi, hosts of hit true crime podcast RedHanded.  We're discussing their favourite nostalgic horror films, as well as exploring what has led to the true crime podcasting boom.  Of course, it woudn't be a real Revisiting episode without also discussing what they were like as teenagers, not forgetting that Hannah was a year above Laura at Berkhamsted School, so we're delving into their memory boxes to find out what Laura K was really like as a teen.
