I don’t live anywhere near Omaha but I love Dan Hoppen’s podcast for its insights into good food and the restaurant business (material that can apply to almost anywhere in the country). Hoppen asks great questions and clearly loves his city and its eateries. The recent episode about an innovative couple who run a food truck was especially good. Omaha is now near the top of my bucket list thanks to this podcast.

If Dan didn’t have followers from his church no one would be listening to this. His hot takes are just plain lame. Mediocre dude who appeals to old people and raves over crappy food.

I’ve been motivated to try several of the restaurants featured in Restaurant Hoppen and never been disappointed! Keep up the great work!

Dan Hoppen does a great job covering the Omaha restaurant scene. He has a genuine love for Omaha and a passion for helping people discover so many restaurant gems that can be found in this Midwest city. We live a couple hours from Omaha but when we do visit, we can be confident dining at places Dan recommends on his podcast. This podcast shines a light on many styles of dining and the interviews are friendly and informative. Keep up the good work, Dan!

Great podcast highlighting the growing Omaha food scene. Dan does a nice job of setting up the story and learning the behind to scenes of each restaurant.

Dan has a way of drawing out the stories of the people behind the food and his appreciation for the craft of culinary arts is evident in every minute. It only enriches the experience of dining at these places once you know more about the owners/chefs!

Dan is, and I’m not reaching for a rhyme here, the man. The way he has brought all of these wonderful restaurant owners on the podcast to talk about what it takes to bring great food to the omaha area is truly astounding. Thank you, Dan.

Dan does a great job of introducing each restaurant and highlighting the great food they offer but he also does well at telling the story of it as well. Obviously these restaurants have great food but I really like that Dan discuss the upbringings of each restaurant owner and what they went through to get where they are today. Especially during supply chain restraints, it’s inspiring to hear the stories of making it through tough times and becoming Omaha staples. Great variety, even better stories! Keep ‘em coming!!

Dan goes beyond the surface to uncover the stories behind Omaha’s chefs, cooks, restauranteurs and more to paint a better comprehensive and colorful picture of Omaha’s intricate dining scene. Once I listen to an episode, I go to that restaurant or business with a deeper appreciation and understanding of it. Great overview of the top local places to eat at in Omaha. Always positive about the perks of a restaurant and well-versed in various types of cuisine. Really entertaining...a must listen!!!

I listen to this because Omaha doesn’t have an alternative, but this guy only talks about the same 5 restaurants. We are aware you like porky butts, block 16, virtuoso, and j coco. He doesn’t appear to have tried very many restaurants. He did a burger list and didn’t even mention Dinkers or Stella’s - the two most famous burger spots in the city. If you’re going to snub that’s fine (your personal opinion) but at this point it’s against his credibility because I don’t even trust that he’s tasted them. Getting harder to justify listening if it’s not going to be a true foodie podcast - I recommend the Sarah Baker Hansen newsletter for real Omaha food info.

Piezon’s is the best local pizza in the area. I listened to all the podcasts in reverse order... great choice to start the ‘casts with this review. Matt is so passionate about his craft. It comes out in the product. 1/2 55, 1/2 Hos.
