The talk will look at technologies and techniques involved with creating realistic virtual avatars, including body scanning using infrared depth sensors. The data from these body scans can be used to generate 3D models using a variety of software and intricate conditioning techniques. It is intended that these avatars be used for virtual fit fashion, combining animation using inertial motion capture and cloth simulation methods.

We will also discuss the potential use of this capability with current and emerging technologies such as VR and web-based applications.
