I'll miss this show a lot.

Rendered, the former Destination DIY podcast, is a Portland based podcast on CREATIVITY. Once a month, the stories focus on Etsy,, or creative farmers or small towns that suddenly become creative communities. If you are creative or self-employed, you will find these stories enrich your day. LOVE THIS! My only complaint is that this is only once a month. This should be on once a week…at least…it is so good!

Think Radiolab shorts or 99% Invisible, but about makers and making. Great production, thoughtful, interesting subjects. I'm binge-listening through the back episodes at work. I hope Rendered can find the exposure to keep going for a long time.

Perfect length and varies subjects. This is excellent territory for binge podcast listening!

One of the best podcasts I have heard. Has a positive perspective which is refreshing and each episode draws the listener in. Stoked I found it.

Highly recommend. You don't have to be a maker to enjoy this show; it appeals to anyone who has ever been curious about, well, anything. I used to love the old Sesame Street segment where you get to watch crayons being made. Am I going to make crayons? Nope. Never. Wait, could I? That's the mindset that DIY taps into, and in a very engaging and creative way.

Bursting with personality, creativity and interesting ideas. You can't not love this show.

Destination DIY is fabulous and my favorite Podcast on iTunes! I often listen while creating my own DIY. The interviews and stories are absolutely fascinating and have made me aware of a community of inspirational DIY'ers, I otherwise would have been clueless too. Further, Destination DIY has been a catalyst for my very own DIY revolution, which sounds totally nerdy, but it is the truth, and I am more than ok with that. Big Love to Destination DIY, keep up the amazing work!

I am so happy I found this podcast when I moved to PDX a couple years ago. I love the interviews and stories that are shared that inspire my own DIY life!

I started listening to Destination DIY because I've known Julie for a very long time, and I'm interested in the do-it-yourself ethos. I've stayed because the show never fails to surprise me and open my eyes to a new perspective on the world.

As a listener from the beginning of Destination DIY, I listened in Madison, Wisconsin because I found the show on a listing for Portland podcasts. Now I see Destination DIY cover topics such as Tiny Houses and recognize efforts in Madison, Wisconsin to engage in those discussions as well. Destination DIY has grown as the art of exploring, experimenting, growing and evolving Do It Yourself itself expands the notion of community beyond the streets we live on.

I've been following this podcast for awhile & though I do enjoy the earlier ones - out of total audio geekiness - I do enjoy the later episodes with a sense of format and cleaned up production. But the thing I enjoy most? The content! It's a really fun show to listen to & I appreciate how much work is put into it! Cheers DIY team! ~

Destination DIY is so creative! Julie expands DIY to include "destinations" way beyond what you might expect. She's a radio professional, and deserves a listen!

This podcast is an invitation to explore the spectrum of adventure off the map of instruction manuals and convention. "Destination DIY" helps me explore how to live in high definition. Also, Julie's awesome.

This podcast provides entertaining portraits of creative people who have a lot of ingenuity. Even if the particular project of an interviewee isn't something I was previously interested in, their stories and approaches are always fun to hear. Try it out if you like This American Life or Radiolab.

I really enjoy this show. I'm not much of a DIYer, but I aspire to be, so this is a nice way to indulge that fantasy until I hear something that I might actually pursue. The production is great quality, too. Made for radio, not just podcast.

Sometimes, a good friend brings you to a quirky hole-in-the wall restaurant they discovered, or an old museum they learned about somewhere, or some beautiful secluded beach they recently found. You get there and at first you’re a little surprised by the place. You’ve never tried Southern Albanian cuisine before, or you weren’t aware of the cultural and historical significance of scrimshaw. But they are completely engrossed by the place, and so excited to share it with you, and as you spend more time there, you find that you kind of love it too. Something about the experience resonates with you. As you learn about the little details, chatting with the locals, asking questions, and becomes a shared experience. Not only do you feel like you’ve discovered a new place, but you feel a new connection to it as well. That’s the feeling of an episode of Destination DIY. That’s what makes it so unique. Julie is a host, in the most authentic sense. She invites you along as she visits the encompassing worlds of makers, community builders, enthusiasts, and experts. Her tone is neither skeptical nor naïve, but welcoming, with earnestness and genuine curiosity. It’s as if we are learning about these places together. The show is about people taking control of their own worlds and helping others to build theirs. It’s obvious that Julie is impassioned by the topic and, as I listen to more episodes, I start to see it that way too. Her enthusiasm is tangible and addicting. Our relationship to the objects around us is worth considering, and her show encourages us to do that. Knowing the history and the people behind an object or an experience changes our relationship to that object or experience. What do our consumption habits say about our independence, our engagement with others, and our levels self-reflection? The individual destinations Julie takes us fit together to form a broader mosaic of ideas about what it means to live in contemporary society, to be self-sustaining, to be creative, to be independent, and to be self-reflexive.

Destination DIY doesn't strive to bring you just great DIY projects, but the stories behind them. They show a true talent for producing an informative and entertaining show. They have a permanent place in my playlist. Give it a listen, you'll be happy you did.

Interviews with all sorts of folks that create things themselves. Inspiring! You will love this one if you are creative or into NPR podcasts. (Or both, most definitely). Where else are you going to hear about people who make their own spacesuits?

This podcast should appeal to anyone who is a creative thinker. I have been a fan since the early days when it started as a radio show and it's been great to watch it mature.

What to say about Destination DIY….it's witty, smart, lovely, charming, informative, creative… etc. etc. etc. I have been living in Indonesia for the past year and struggle with homesickness for Portland often. Destination DIY has been my comfort food. I pop in my headphones and head home to PDX for an hour or so. I get inspired and feel like Julie and Jaymee are talking just to me. It's really the best. The stories range from childbearing to chicken raising. No other podcast has brought that kind of diversity to my ears! Just the intro song puts a smile on my face! Do it… listen to this podcast and create something! I'll be listening from afar for the next year! Thank you for bringing home to me in Indonesia!

I have never written an iTunes review before, but I want more people to learn about Destination DIY because -- as someone who listens to a lot of podcasts -- I think this one is among the best. It is not just that the stories about DIY biologists, disasters, authors and restaurants are captivating, though that sure makes the podcast informative and fun to listen to. It is the underlying theme you take away from listening. It gives me an I-can-do-it, anything-is-possible, wow-people-are-smart kind of feeling. At a time when the world can seem so complex and solutions can seem so untenable, it is inspiring to hear about people who are figuring out how to achieve their dreams, change the system and make a difference -- and it makes me realize that I can follow their example.

I used to listen to this show when it was on a local public radio station (KBOO) and LOVED that it was picked up by our local NPR affiliate. This show is EVERYTHING that's good about radio, and gives the "egg in the face" media a decent helping of dignity and meaning. It's a great idea, well delivered and ofe=ten talked about (I've yet to have a short conversation about this show wit anyone who's heard it...) BIG LOVE to his show.

I need to go find the back issues since iTunes only has 5 episodes. Love it!

A year ago I was surfing for DIY projects and found this gem of a podcast instead. The podcasts have given me a down to earth and loving look at humans doing what comes naturally to humans: creating. Especially now, in a world increasingly cynical about any endeavor not connected to fame or cash, this podcast is a breath of fresh rain-sweetened air. Thank you Ms. Sabatier.
