There were a few acts like Depeche Mode and New Order that were making great, dark synth pop but no one could have anticipated an album like Pretty Hate Machine by Nine Inch Nails and in particular, the success of Head Like a Hole, the first single off the album.

Without ideas and/or a destination in mind, we would just be flailing without purpose. Without great ideas, even the greatest execution would be for naught. “*I want to work my tail off without an end in mind“* seems like a misguided statement yet that is exactly what you would be doing without ideas, executing without a purpose. Yet, like many others, we find ourselves awash in ideas yet they don’t always feel like they could be “the next big thing”. It is important to note that if we were spending time executing consistently, the next big thing might come to us.
