The weight room can be a very daunting place. First, there's not knowing your way around a training area. Second, you don't want to do something that will hurt yourself, and third, intimidating human beings are walking around with their chest puffed out!    If you were like me, it took me a while to understand my way into a weight room. The unlock was when I started going to a performance trainer to get faster.   We worked on running mechanics through drills and instruction, but they sent us to the weight room to see our strength coach at the end of each session.    During the strength session, the coaches showed me how to approach each lift, giving me the right lifts! I remember one of the coaches before each session told us, "Boys and girls,  but this session in your memory, don't go through the motions. Look to understanding what we were doing, so you can do them on your own."    Great advice and you know what.... I still do some of the lifts they taught us. I've added my own sugar and spices to the mix, but the foundation was laid.    I view this interview as one of those foundational moments for a player.
