Our last WAVEcast live from the show floor of InfoComm 2013 focuses on architecture and AV design and construction. We talk with FSR’s Jon Melchin, director of architectural business services. He has a unique role in which he teaches AIA-accredited courses to architects about AV Design and FSR products. Jon and WAVEcast host Jennifer Willard discuss how architects view the AV industry and what challenges and opportunities exist for AV integrators to work more closely with building construction principles in the future.

WAVEcast host Jennifer Willard interviews Lee Minich, president of LabTechnologies and Marketing Work Group Chair of the AVnu Alliance. AVnu advocates for the use of AVB (Audio Video Bridging) Standards for pushing our audio and video over the network. 55 companies are currently members of the AVnu Alliance and Lee tells where we are with these audio/video standards and what to look for in this area in the future. The Women in AV launched a new initiative at InfoComm 2013 to develop local chapters for WAVE to start meeting together and helping each other regionally. Verrex’s Director of Marketing Theresa Hahn is the chair of the important committee and is planning an event during InfoComm’s AV Week for a full launch internationally.

On this WAVEcast, we talked live from the InfoComm 2013 show floor with the first InfoComm CTS-I certified professional, Michelle Miller. Michelle is already studying for her CTS-D — listen to hear what inspired her and what difference it’s made to her and her husband’s AV systems integration business.

Last week, our industry went to Orlando for InfoComm 2013. The Women in AV, spearheaded by FSR’s President Jan Sandri thought it was important we support a local women’s and children’s charity that supports homeless women and children in the local Orlando area. We’ve already raised $1,100 for this worthy cause, but we can do better. Knowing we all pay almost twice as much just to attend the show.
