Very grateful Med surg to ICU RN!!
Learning from real human beings with real feelings, real empathy, real stories etc is so different and so much more calming (and effective for learning) than the dry orientation manuals, books, and online resources Ive been avoiding. I want to study and be better for my patients but the thought of spending my time off stuck in books, after the long grueling shifts, just felt depressing. This is different. Its learning lessons but fun, friendly, relatable, and feels like its delivered all wrapped in a warm hug. Thank you SO much!

Some people inspire us without ever knowing the difference they’ve made in our lives. ❤️
Yesterday, I attended the Inland Empire Rapid Response Symposium and had the opportunity to see Sarah Lorenzini in person.
My journey into critical care nursing has not been an easy or traditional one.
I earned my nursing degree overseas, where critical care was an elective I didn’t choose. English is not my first language, and between cultural differences, family challenges, and learning to navigate nursing in a different country, I had to teach myself so much along the way.
I started as a telemetry nurse, became a charge nurse, eventually transferred to the ICU, and later became a Rapid Response nurse.
Today, I work night shifts at a 200-bed community hospital, where critical thinking, independence, and leadership are essential, especially when resources are limited.
I’ve never claimed to know everything. But I’ve never stopped wanting to learn.
And that’s where Sarah has made such a difference in my journey.
Through her Rapid Response RN podcast, I’ve gained so much more than clinical knowledge. I’ve learned how to think more critically, lead with confidence, stay calm in chaos, support my colleagues, and become a better educator.
Her teaching has genuinely changed the way I practice nursing.
Yesterday, I walked past Sarah a couple of times. I wanted so badly to tell her how much she has inspired me, but I was too nervous to approach her. I worried I wouldn’t find the right words.
So I’m finding them here instead. ❤️
Sarah, you may never know how many nurses you’ve inspired, how much confidence you’ve helped us build, or how many patients have benefited from the knowledge you’ve shared.
Your impact goes far beyond a podcast or a conference room. It reaches the bedside, the Rapid Response calls, and the moments when nurses have to make critical decisions.
Thank you for reminding me that being a great nurse isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about having the humility to keep learning, the courage to keep growing, and the heart to lift others along the way.
You haven’t just helped me become a better Rapid Response nurse. You’ve inspired me to become the kind of nurse who makes others better, too.
Thank you, Sarah. ❤️

Building a better nurse
I found Sarah about 4 years into my nursing career. As a scared new-ish to ICU nurse, all I felt like I knew was how much I truly didn’t know. Sarah’s humility, kindness, and knowledge makes learning easy and “sticky”- her lessons travel with me. Now as a rapid nurse, I CONTINUE to learn, not just pathophys or pharmacology, but the more important things about how to keep relationships with the nurses we are helping, how to politely question medical decisions, and so much more. This podcast is perfect for a new grad, new nurse, preceptor, experienced nurse, wherever you work. It continues to foster and attitude of learning and offering our patients and coworkers our best. Thank you Sarah for your invaluable contributions to the nursing profession!

It’s like having Sarah in your pocket at work!
I have been listening to this podcast for a few years now. Even as a new nurse, I found so many tidbits helpful. Even if I didn’t understand the specific topic being a new nurse, there was so much education to glean from each podcast. I especially loved the episode Nurse Gwenny and I’m so grateful that you have collaborated together. Keep up the great work! With love from Arizona.

“Not a ding dong dummy head”
I really enjoyed your last podcast where you were discussing hiring rapid response nurses and culture is everything! Explaining how a cocky nurse and ultimately a jerk is not somebody I’m going to want to call when my pt is sinking until it’s too late! Attitude is everything especially in our field!!

Excellent resource, great stories!
I have followed this podcast since the beginning, I believe and have enjoyed every episode. I teach nursing and have used some of these podcasts as assignments in my pathophysiology and health assessment courses because they are so helpful in teaching nurses the application of what content I'm teaching. How Sarah breaks down the patho, pharmacology, and nursing management of many disease processes is so realistic and I appreciate how up-to-date they are (I learn from her, too!). I enjoy her interviews and really appreciate the great stories she uses to educate her listeners. There's nothing like a great patient story to bring home the information we are trying to teach. Thank you for everything you've done educating nurses, Sarah. I will continue to enjoy every episode and appreciate everything so much!

So insightful and helpful.
This podcast is amazing. I’ve been an ICU nurse for 5 years, have my CCRN, but I still struggle to connect the dots with patient care. I’m working to get better everyday and hearing this podcast helps so much. I’m working to better my practice by constantly taking things and studying at home. Please keep this going.

Just the spark I needed
I graduated nursing school almost 2 years ago. Unfortunately, nursing school burnt me out. Even though I was an excellent student and got great grades, the environment really turned me off to learning.
Since then, I was hired to my local rural community hospital, where I eventually landed in the emergency department. While I love the small town vibe and really want to serve this community, it’s been hard to feel prepared for whatever may walk through the door.
This podcast was exactly what I needed. The stories and engaging style are perfect. I am engaging in critical thinking, applying what I hear on the podcast to my patients, and love the exposure to some “big hospital” ideas. I’ve only been listening for a short time on my way in or out of work , but have already changed elements of my practice and have been able to collaborate with our providers to improve pt care.
Thanks Sarah for making me a better nurse!

If you want to be a successful critical care nurse, start here👆🏻
I was hired in September 2025 to initiate, develop, and pilot a rapid response team at my local hospital in Texas. Naturally, the first thing I did whenever this opportunity came was to start from episode 1 of the rapid response RN podcast.
To say that Sarah has been instrumental in my success, would be a complete understatement. Her ability to summarize an entire critical patients journey into one podcast episode is nothing short of amazing. She comprehensively covers the subtle early warning signs, the detailed assessment, the pathophysiology, the leadership of her team, and how and when to appropriately escalate matters.
I have learned so much from her and this podcast and I’m 100% certain that she has propelled me forward in my current role as a new rapid response nurse. I am incredibly thankful for this show and everything that she brings to it. Phenomenal work and I can’t wait to continue learning from her and saving lives.

A role model
As a nursing student, I look for qualities in RN’s that I aspire to emulate. I have learned so many valuable lessons from Sarah and her podcast! An example of an episode that made a big impression on me is the one where she talks about kindness. She’s not just an AMAZING source for clinical insights, but she’s an example of how to carry oneself , lead, and be a positive change maker. So glad a classmate recommended this podcast to me!

My kids love it, too 🙏
I’m in school on the road to FNP and I came across your podcast a few months ago. I enjoy the style, the case review, pathophysiology, and the great storytelling. Usually if we jump in the car and one of my other frequently listed to podcasts started playing I hear hear a car full of groaning and then repeated requests for music instead. One day the Rapid Response RN podcast started playing and there was silence. They were locked in. Now they ask for it every time we jump in the car, “Dad, can we put on Rapid Response RN!?” They ask questions to understand the terms being used so I get to explain things to them, which helps me recall information, and helps them understand a bit more of my world. Their favorite episode is the BBQ episode. They ask for it regularly (They’re 8 and 11). This has been a great find.

Great human with great content
This stuff is super digestible. If it’s something you’ve never seen before, or refreshing after a shift, it is easy to understand and remember. A great model to make your own as you deliver your own patient care

Nursing school student
I am in my second year of a BSN program, and I have learned so much from this podcast. Listening to these with the intent to really understand and learn the information has helped bring a lot of my school learning together. Without this podcast, I don’t think I’d do as well in my classes when it comes to understanding the nursing process and the pathophysiology of certain diseases processes! Thank you Sarah for all the help!

Best podcast ever
Sarah, may life grant all your wishes for creating this podcast. I’ve learned more from it than I ever did in nursing school. It’s made such a difference in my practice. Thank you for truly making an impact. Through this podcast, you’re saving ten times more lives than you already do as a rapid response nurse—by educating and empowering other RNs. Thank you!

To my fellow new RNs - this is the podcast you’re looking for. Need to shift your clinical reason from textbooks to living people? Sarah’s storytelling format is great for that. EVERYTHING I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!
I am a new grad ER nurse and I have been searching for nine months for a podcast that contains pertinent information to my field with the education provided on a level where I can understand it. I have found a many critical care podcast however, the content is so far advanced that it goes above and beyond my comprehension level. Sarah educates her listeners in a manner that is easily digestible and understandable. I am so incredibly grateful to have found this podcast and I can already tell that after just a few episodes my train of thought when I walk into a patient’s room, as well as the knowledge I have gained by listening to her podcast has changed my nursing practice.

Interesting!
I’m listening to this as a lab person in the field for 20 years. I have an interest in all things medical and have a lot of great nurse colleagues. I did just listen to the transfusion reaction one and can confirm that the blood bank hates transfusion reactions just as much! One comment on the cause though—while it can be a blood draw or type & cross issue for a hemolytic reaction, I have unfortunately had several cases over my career where the nurse also gave the unit to the wrong patient. I am thinking that better technology and improved processes limit that cause more now than when I worked in the blood bank. Looking forward to your other episodes!

So impressed!
All of your podcasts add to my knowledge! After seven plus years strictly as an RRT RN and six years prior to that intermittently filling that role, I find your kind and generous nature a “reset” to enable me to focus on finding ways to educate and ease the frustrations we so often run into.

Inspiration!
This podcast has inspired me to go back to school for my bachelors in nursing after 13 years of being a nurse. I love nerding out and learning new things! Sarah, keep up the amazing work that you do! Your patients and podcast listeners are lucky to have you!

New Nurse Skills Review
I LOVE this podcast. As I enter my second year of nursing, that deep understanding of pathophysiology becomes a bit more foggy over time so listening to one or two of these a week keeps me sharp to explain their conditions to patients, make evidence based decisions, and keep my book skills sharp. All while laughing and feeling seen and cared for.

Thank you
This podcast is informative and relatable! Sarah has a variety of topics. I love that she talks about her own nursing experiences. It’s reassuring to hear from someone else and know what I am feeling at times is valid. Thank you, Sarah!!

Thank you Sarah !
As a new grad straight into a rural, critical access ER, this podcast has transformed my confidence and competency as an emergency nurse. I love Sarah’s obvious kindness, curiosity, brilliance, story telling, emphasis on patho, and her passion for teaching and nursing. Hope to listen to this podcast for years to come.

Best nursing podcast!
Finally found a nursing podcast that is both informative and fun! I LOVE the storytelling format - it really stimulates me to think critically as each case is presented but without feeling like I’m listening to a patho lecture. It’s so helpful as a new grad! And I especially appreciate hearing about how Sarah handles the non-medical side of nursing (e.g. interactions with families and other health care providers).

Awesome Resource For Nurses!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this podcast! I’ve been a nurse for 2 years now but only work a few times a month so haven’t got a ton of experience with my rapid responses or codes. I used to go into my shift TERRIFIED of them but this podcast is AWESOME and helps me feel more confident in my nursing assessments and skills. The thought processes she goes through that she’s had in real life situations are awesome and will definitely help shift my thoughts to productive instead of panicked when my first code comes up someday! Thanks for this awesome podcast!

Preceptor podcast
Thank you so much for your amazing podcasts. I learn something every time!! I just listened to the preceptor podcast episode 113 and it was very helpful in bringing me awareness when I do start precepting. I am a new grad at 57! I have been on the MedSurg oncology floor for seven months now And just started getting nursing students assigned to me. Once I complete my first year in the transition into practice program, I will be qualified to precept. I did not have a good preceptor and I really want to be a positive role model for anyone that I teach. So thank you so much for this podcast. I will definitely be listening to it again!! ❤️

Super educational nursing podcast
Sarah does an amazing job breaking down patient presentation, nurse’s response, expected treatments, communication tips, etc. As a new graduate nurse residency coordinator, I regularly recommend her podcasts to our new graduate nurses.

Excellent
My friend in nursing school pointed me in this podcasts direction, and I’m so stoked to have found it. I first listened to two-part ARDS (53-54) and they were super helpful for my exam, but more importantly understanding more about respiratory care and ARDS.
Also, just listened to sepsis episode and learned LR has a closer pH balance to blood than NS. So much good EBP on this podcast.

Great full breakdown from a nurse
I’m a medical podcast junky always looking for this depth from the perspective of a nurse that dives deep. The podcasts hosted by physicians are sometimes mostly focused on medications/treatment, but I want the whole picture. Especially assessment. Add this to your resource list fellow nurses. Sarah’s enthusiasm is much needed at all times, but especially now when nursing needs some positive uplifting.
