Mitch Bolden's life was turned upside-down at age 27, when his doctors informed him that he was suffering from advanced-phase Leukemia; a deadly form of cancer that attacks blood cells and bone marrow.
As the cancer slowly grew in Mitch's bones, his attention was on other things. He was focused on advancing in his career in criminal justice, and he was trying to salvage his struggling marriage. Everything changed in an instant when he discovered that he was literally in a fight for his life.

This is exactly the type of podcast that I love. Funny and raw but still hits some really deep topics. The main line through this one is the concept of what it means to be a warrior of the light (a la the book by Paulo Coelho). We both read a few passages from that book and discuss them between giving our opinions on social issues, talking about our recurring nightmares, and discussing some concerns with contemporary pornography.
Geoff and I were in a groove on this one and we covered all different content areas including: romance, mental health, suicide, pets, movies, and of course crypto. As always, please share, like, review, etc.

Jessica Heriot stops by the crabshed and we talk about growing up at the mouth of the Columbia River, her photography business, relationships, social medial, and alternative ideologies, mixed in-and-between personal stories and anecdotes. The last half hour is where I launch into the good stuff (conspiracies, aliens, spirituality, etc) and Jessica politely humors me as I go over some whacky shit. She was a good sport and I had a lot of fun.
We have a lot of good laughs and keep the tone light and easy. This episode is full of stories, shoutouts, and goofiness, but we also go into some of the lessons we have learned from our past mistakes and some of that is more serious. Overall, we cover a lot of ground and have a few laughs along the way. I hope you enjoy and thank you for listening!
Jessica was a fun guest and she is a very talented photographer. She does family photos, new babies, graduations, and of course weddings. My wife and I have hired her on several occasions and we always love our pictures. If you want to contact her for business inquiries, here is her info...

Liz Hylton is a woman of many talents. Not only is she a professor in mathematics, she is also an experienced funeral director, a lifelong learner and a full-time mom. She joins Jeff in the studio to talk about eduction, technology, parenting, religion, and to give a few stories from the vault of personal history. We go deep into topics revolving her work as owner/director of Pentilla's Chapel, and how that has led her to develop certain skills that most people lack. We also cover her work in education, transitioning to remote learning, and her love of Apple devices and the corresponding distain for PCs.
We also delve into some very personal topics regarding our own lives and mental illness, suicide, and grief. This is amazingly easy to consume, considering the subject matter. This podcast made me feel good about being a human. We are all trying our best and we need to keep supporting one another through the hard times. I love you guys. Keep Ramblin.

Jacob Moore loves to make things. As the founder and lead craftsman at Jacob's Hammer and assistant distiller at Adrift Distillers in Long Beach, Washington, you can always find him deep in the process of creation. He makes booze, sour kraut, and opportunities. He views life as an adventure to be sipped-and-savored. Listen-in as he and Jeff talk homemade fermented foods, surfing, and natural resources. We cover the fungi that lives beneath our feet, the bacteria that lives in our gut, and the passion that lives in our hearts (not to mention the mold in our lungs). Jeff vents about his hatred of people who illegally dump trash in the woods, and even teaches Jake his favorite beach game to play with the kids: Who can find the first used needle?
This is a really fun conversation and I hope you enjoy!

In this special Mother's Day episode, Melissa Nesbitt drops in to discuss her life as a working mother in 2021 and some of the challenges that had to be overcome before she could achieve her goals. With wit and humor, she recounts having to relearn how to walk following a traumatic injury, her struggle to earn a Master's degree while pregnant, and how she eventually met the love of her life... me.
If you have a mother, or know someone who does, this podcast is for you. You'll hear about the different types of moms (tiger moms, tattoo-druggy moms, helicopter moms, etc...), why we love them, and what kinds of challenges our mothers are facing in the world today.
Melissa explains how she answers some of the most challenging questions in her life. How to prioritize self-care? Should we vaccinate our kids for Covid-19? Should we let the kids have social media? How do you balance responsibilities of a mom with those of a wife? How to cope when your husband is so handsome and successful that we can't go in public without being mobbed by hordes of beautiful, horny women? Get the answers to the questions and so many more!
There's never been a better excuse to saddle up next to your mom and enjoy two hours of unfiltered conversation about our favorite ladies: moms.

Lindy Swain is one of four owners of the beloved Long Beach institution Dylan's Cottage Bakery. She and her husband Mark teamed up with Jeff and Casey Harrell to buy the bakery last year when the former owners decided to close in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. They made a few changes and updates to the business, and the results have been phenomenal! It became Dylan's Cottage Bakery in honor of Dylan Jude Harrell, Lindy's niece, who passed away in 2020 from a rare brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). Lindy recounts the sometimes painful memories of her first few years living on the Long Beach peninsula, and speaks on the importance of strong community and family bonds. We talk about potty training, mushrooms, the afterlife, and how much we love Costco, and much more! Lindy was a pleasure to have in the studio and I really admire her courage for talking about something so sensitive and personal.
Please enjoy!
