Where no woman has gone before
In a world of podcasts with men talking about the TOS, I finally found one with a woman’s point of view. Rachel makes some beautiful connections with this show that has not aged well. Rachel and Chris recognize inconsistencies but it doesn’t feel like a podcast of complaints as some. And they are funny! Love it.

Revitalizing!
Rachel Watches Star Trek is giving me new interest in Star Trek The Original Series. Thanks to the duo's combination of fresh, honest takes (from Rachel) and familiartity (from Chris), I am binging old Star Trek episodes that I have not watched in over 40 years! This podcast has excellent production qualities and sharp, compelling conversations. Highest recommendations for all Star Trek fans and their significant others, or just by themselves!

I’m a fan for sure!
For sexiness, I give Chris’ weird vocal sucking laugh a zero and Rachel’s accent a ten. So, a five. Just messing around, guys. Perfect episode length, very enjoyable. I’m still halfway through TOS with you two and I’m along for the entire ride. Love your podcast. Five stars it is!

Listen to Someone Who Doesn’t Like Start Trek Complain About Star Trek
What could be better for a Star Trek fan than to listen to a closed-minded individual, who is not a fan of the show (to put it mildly), make snide comments about make up, visual effects, scripts, acting, directing, music, sound effects, costuming, story themes and sound stages - basically, everything - from a show made over *50 years ago*. On this podcast, Star Trek is viewed through the lens of someone who perfectly embodies the rude cynicism of the know-it-alls of the 21st Century, and has complete contempt for the times in which the show was made. What could have been a really playful and funny introduction of such a great sci-fi classic to someone who is inquisitive and open minded, becomes instead a painful recitation of one person’s desire to block intellectualism, joy and any ideas that differ from her concept of what cool entertainment is supposed to be. One Star is too much but that’s the best I can do. Or the least I can do, which is obviously what she is doing.

Love you, but you're ticking me off!
This is one of my favorite podcasts of any that I listen to, let alone those about Star Trek. I am, however, feeling a lot of frustration listening to your ST Disco discussions around Burnham's role in Capt Georgiou's death, namely that you seem to follow the well worn commentary path of so many others in dismissing Georgiou's agency & responsibility. I reject utterly this attitude that Capt G did not take her fate, and that of her ship, into her OWN hands by deciding to go to the Klingon ship, that it is somehow Burnham's fault that she ultimately was killed in the hand-to-hand battle that followed. Burnham committed mutiny when she tried to knock Georgiou out & tried to deliver the"Vulcan Hello". That she didn't accomplish either- a little fact so often ignored - doesn't negate that she was mutinous for the duration of those moments. However, the Capt took back control immediately, having full agency going forward. Georgiou's death was the result of her OWN actions. Further, the Klingons WERE there to start a war; nothing was going to prevent that; nothing either Burnham or Georgiou did - short of warping out of there at the very start- would have prevented the resulting battle. I understand that Burnham's point of view is that she IS responsible for all of this; but it dismays me that nearly every Disco podcaster rejects discussing the actual events & how Bunham shoulders the fallout and instead chooses the more titilating -and false- commentary that she actually IS to blame for Georgiou's death & for the war. Because I have enjoyed your discussions so much in the past, I felt particularly disappointed to hear you go down that path as well. I hope to someday hear you discuss these matters with the more thoughtful, nuanced approach I had become accustomed to, and will definitely keep on listening. Still a FAVORITE! Respectfully, an obviously ardent Disco fan : )

A great Star Trek for non-fans!
I’ve had a lot of fun listening to this series while working. As someone who has never been interested in Star Trek I’m shocked by how much I enjoy it. Rachel is hilarious and her songs are to absolutely die for. Chris has a lot of great insight as to the series, but sometimes says something inane that takes me out of the episode. Luckily Rachel has enough charm for the both of them. Highly recommended!

My Favorite Star Trek Podcast
Most of the other Trek podcasts have episodes that are over an hour long on average, but they are so because they debate over the science and philosophy of trek to a depth only the nerdiest of nerds can appreciate, or they talk about their personal life ad infinitum. Rachel Watches Star Trek is so much better because the episodes are of a perfect length; they are structured, funny, and informative, and never boring; they’re a charming couple. I love the brief musical interludes, I reckon my favorite being the one for two-part episodes. The only downside is that the world may end before Rachel Watches Discovery.

Rachel Watches Star Trek - greatness!
Ok, disclosure, I have been a Star Trek fan since I saw the original series being discussed on “The Today Show” with Hugh Downs BEFORE the first episode aired on tv. It’s so great to see the series anew through the eyes of Trek-neophyte, Rachel. Nice to find things that are old-hat to me, being exciting to her. Ah, to see it for the first time again. It has been refreshing. And her husband, Chris, has been a gracious host and enabler as he discusses each episode as they explore from first to last all series in Star Trek. Keep it up guys. I laugh and shake my head as I listen to each episode.

Love this!
For a long time, I would only ever listen to one Trek podcast, and then I found RWST....and I love it! I have an amazing "Raaaaaychel watches STAAAAR Trek" impression :)

They fall into the trap
I love most Star Trek so I am always searching for a good podcast about it. Many get too “geeky” but this is not one of them. The idea of the wife watching the show the husband knows already is a great idea...That being said...They however repeatedly do what many Star Trek podcasts do: they inject their 2019 millennial woke attitudes onto a 1960’s show! And I know it will not get better once we get to TNG and beyond. Running a fine tooth PC comb through every single thing on the show is a big negative for me! If i want soap box rants i will watch Sunday TV. I come to these podcasts for entertainment

Wonderful Podcast
Rachel and Chris are a wonderfully charming way to relive old Star Trek episodes. Rachel brings a fresh perspective to a show that we all probably know all too well. I am excited for every episode to come!

very entertaining
Chris and Rachel have great chemistry (hopefully since they're married. :-) ) Very enjoyable way to revisit the old series that I grew up on.

Always entertaining!
This is a great podcast. At this point, (Stardate 73014.7) Rachel and Chris have almost covered the whole original series. Next they are on to the animated series, and then the Next Generation and then DS9, Voyager etc, etc. Just be warned that Rachel will not let violations of the Prime Directive slide by without a justifiable critique. She is also keen to the fact that any Starfleet officers of flag rank encountered by the Enterprise crew are almost invariably engaged in some kind of nefarious activities. Check this podcast out. It’s more fun than wrasslin a pack of Denebian Slime Devils!

High-level Charm & Wit
A mixed Anglo-American couple provides thoughtful analyses of Star Trek episodes that are charming and funny. He’s a big time ST nerd and she’s the game neophyte. Highly-recommended!

Pure delight
This is a smart, breezy romp through 1960s Americana with a contemporary eye for fashion, storytelling, scientific inquiry, and psychotherapy. Rachel's accent, which is exotic to Americans, is the initial draw, but my favorite aspect of this show is how game she is to give Chris's beloved show a chance, despite its many flaws. I've been bingeing this show to catch up with them, and I'll be sad when I don't have a huge pile of these to get through. If you haven't seen the show in a long time, this is a fun way to reminisce without the time commitment. If you haven't seen much or any of the show, you could try what Rachel has been doing and go through them one by one, with or without a loved one to talk about them afterwards. These two are an inspiration and are well worth a listen!

Awesome concept, great show!
I really love this show...a smart, funny and insightful person giving her unspoiled first take on something most Americans have seen all their lives. Rachel is an Englandian who was cruelly deprived of TOS until she fell into the clutches of a geeky Yank. They watch and comment on one episode of TOS each podcast, taking the series in order. It really lets you see your familiar and loved TOS in a whole new light, but always with a great affection for the show. So worth listening to.

So much fun!
This podcast is delightful to listen to. I’m stuck in bed with a bad cold and binge listening to these podcasts. Both Chris and Rachel have a background in the movie industry and bring interesting comments abt costume design and writing. Chris knows a lot of history behind the episodes and Rachel has a nice counseling perspective on each episode. And they just sound like the cutest couple ever. Thanks Rachel for watching Star Trek!

Doctor Who talks Star Trek
Rachel sounds AMAZINGLY like Jodie Whittaker! They both have the same accent. And all I can think of is The Doctor discussing Star Trek: The Original Series. Whatever the actual back story of this podcast, that is how I’ll continue to think of it. FIVE STARS

A fun Star Trek review show
Rachel and Chris Lackey are your funny and witty hosts as Rachel watches and reviews all the TOS episodes. Of which she has never seen a single one. Love Rachel’s English accent. Chris brings his knowledge and love of Star Trek to the discussion. Chris is also the co- host of the HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast which I also enjoy very much.

You don't have to be a Trekkie to enjoy this fantastic show!!
I've watched wrote a few episodes of the original Star Trek series, but I am by no means a die hard fan. This podcast will inspire you to watch the episodes, and you can only hope to have viewing partners like Rachel and Chris Lackey. They're so funny and engaging as podcast hosts and just seem like the cutest couple in the world, but not in a nauseating way. I can't recommend this podcast enough!!!

Great Combination, Rachel and Chris
Great podcast. Funny, smart, well Rachel anyway ;) The perfect podcast for people interested in the social changes of the 60. Oh, Trekkies and really anyone who likes to laugh will enjoy Rachel Watches Star Trek.

This show is entertaining, fun, and intelligent. Chris and Rachel are delightful and treat this classic show with equal parts respect, humor, and love. Really brilliant stuff ❤️

To Boldly Go
Join Rachel as she navigates the murky (and often disappointing) reaches of 60’s television. First Officer Chris is always ready with his Vulcan mood ring and his Trekxpertise to help guide listeners through the episodes. Even if Star Trek doesn’t ENERGIZE you, Rachel Watches Star Trek will have you giggling like a Tribble. Oh, my!

Hilarious and Charming
I was recommended this podcast when I was looking for a companion pod for my TOS watch, having enjoyed The Greatest Generation and wanting something of that nature. The two hosts are charming and hilarious, and their approach to the series is just perfect. Chris comes at it from the perspective of a longtime fan, and Rachel is reluctantly along for the ride. As a newcomer, her insights are wonderful as she imagines what’s to come, and reacts to the funny inconsistencies and the overall cheese factor.

To Boldly Revisit
Ok, it has been many a decade since I can remember transfixedly watching an episode of ST:tOS... and many of us can remember when it was simply the best thing on TV... campyness and all. Rachel and Chris allow us to revisit and reevaluate our youthful indulgance through the gentle and relatively refined eyes of a new modernity, without us even having to sit down and actually rewatch it ourselves. Lazy? Maybe, but sprikled with a touch of geek genius. It's what MST3K might be as a serious comentary. I, for one, heard about this podcast on another podcast called All In The Reflexes. So, get your modern geek on and spread the word. Ideas: 8 Entertainment Value: 10 Sexiness: (waiting for the video)

Fun and different.
There are a lot of podcasts these days that work their way episode by episode through TV series. Many pair a newcomer with a devoted fan. In this one Rachel provides a unique persepective as a non-trekkie seriously looking at the show as well as having fun *with* it, rather than just laughing *at* it.

Yes
Cosy intergalactic nostalgia is a dish best served in utterly adorable company, and Chris is often ok also.

Acoustic Alchemy
This show is a special kind of acoustic alchemy. The “old reliable” dulcet tones from everyone’s favorite poster child for all-around swell guys is mixed with the pleasantly-distracting vibrancy of our new favorite hostess’s interjections. And yes… we like the accent. Hearing the first podcast motivated me to watch the old episodes again, if only to be refreshed enough in advance to be ready for the corresponding episode. I have been a Witch House Media supporter for a long time, and this show has been every bit as entertaining so far. Great work, Lackey family!!!

So fun
I've never watched Star Trek either, Rachel, but I can honestly say that doesn't take away from my experience at all. Both of you have a fun and Witty sense of humor and the banter is so fun to listen to. I love listening to you guys talk about these story lines. Wish you made them more often, though 😢. I'll just have to start watching Star Trek myself in anticipation for upcoming shows!

Great show!
Rachel and Chris are hilarious and insightful, providing a fresh and balanced take on Star Trek. I love they way they examine the show as a time capsule of the social views of its time. Here's a question to ponder: if the Enterprise crew come from an earth where racial and gender prejudice are things of the past, why are white dudes still in charge?

Very enjoyable
Rachel is witty, insightful, and funny, and has given me new insights into a program that I have loved for years and watched dozens of times. Thank you!

Wonderful!
I forget how I stumbled upon Chris's other podcast, which I am completely addicted too, but when they played an episode of Rachel Watches Star Trek I was hooked. I love the dynamic between this obviously loving couple and since I have never seen the Orginal Series it is a great way of learning about it. Rachel brings a complete outsiders perspective to the series which is so rare to see and great to ponder. P.S. this is I think my first review I have ever written, I just wanted to let everyone know how fun this podcast is.

Hilarious recaps of classic Star Trek episodes
When you've liked something forever, its hard to remember or imagine what it was like to have watched it the first time, with fresh eyes. Rachel's never seen Star Trek so she provides that perspective - with frequently hilarous results. Co-host Chris has been a fan for years, so he chimes in occasionally with some perspective or background. But neither host is afraid to criticise the shows failings - or to compliment its strengths. It is sometimes odd looking back at a piece of culture that was created at a very different time in America, and that is the source of much commentary and humor as well. "So, they do episode recaps of a TV show that ran before I was born?" Sure, you could say that, but this isn't just any TV show - it's the show that launched a squad of spinoffs and prequels, a ton of movies, not to mention thousand of STEM careers. What would it be like to approach a piece of cultural bedrock with fresh eyes? Find out by listening to this podcast. Finally, while Chris has an American accent, Rachel sounds like she's from the UK. I really enjoy Rachel's accent and colloquialisms, which add considerable charm to the proceedings.

A fun listen
Reminds you of episodes that you might have forgotten about, interesting to hear from the prospective of someone who's never seen Star Trek.

Witty and inviting
I love the show! Rachel and Chris have included all the listeners into their conversations in such a way as to make us feel like old friends at a party. I don't always agree with some of their impressions of Star Trek but I do always enjoy the humor and am occasionally surprised that I didn't "see" certain aspects of the show. Really charming podcast. Keep up the good work!

Great podcast
As a big fan of the original Star Trek series, I love Rachel Lackey's commentary on the show. She's very witty, intelligent, enthusiatic, and a ton of fun to listen to. I've been watching Star Trek all my life (yes, I remember a time before Star Trek: The Next Generation), so it's fascinating to hear theinsightful reaction of someone who is not familiar with it. Kudos to both Rachel and Chris.

Great concept
What a fun idea for a podcast Rachel Lackey is going through the original series, it cross cultural (she is a Brit), cross generational (I imagine she wasn't born until a decade after the show was canceled). The hosts have a lot of fun and a lot of giggles gentle teasing apart each classic episode.
Ebenson29
Delightful and insightful
You could watch Star Trek yourself, or you could get a breezy treatment of each episode with commentary that is simultaneously fanatic and skeptical. It's quicker and more fun to let Rachel watch Star Trek for you.

A fantasy you can almost believe
Ah, to have your best friend and life-mate embrace your cultural interests. It's a dream of many nerds and this show lets us imagine that fantasy come true. The actors performing this show do a great and convincing job of imagining what such a couple would be like. It's like an audio-visit to the holodeck in TNG. As you listen you'll almost come to believe that there really is such a couple as "The Lackeys" (seriously? Couldn't you make up a more realistic name?) and you'll hear them mention side-quests and imaginary back-story about some other podcasts they "work on". It's charming. I think the whole idea of casting a British female lead was very clever knowing how many ST fans also like BBC fare like Doctor Who. It's delightful, really. Get to your food replicator and order an Earl Gray, Hot and settle back for what is often laugh-out-loud quirky responses to stories you already know far too well. I'd go on gushing about the whole thing, but you should give it a go. If you like Star Trek - or have never seen it and are wondering what it is like - this is a lovingly hand-crafted imagining of what might happen when someone from a foreign culture makes first contact with the Nerdtopians.

Highly entertaining
Highly enjoyable ear candy brought to you by the podcast universe's answer to Jonathan and Jennifer Hart. Chris has a smooth and professional speaking voice that highlights his joy of all things Trek. Rachel as the wide eyed innocent provides interesting and often comical insights as only a new viewer and inductee to the original series of Star Trek could (free of preconceived notions). Plus her English accent is sexy! They display a familiarity and closeness in verse very similar to what Robert Wagner and Stephanie Powers displayed on Hart to Hart as Jonathan and Jennifer Hart. This is a very fun (and romantic?) podcast!

Excellent!
I love this show! My husband and I went through the entire original Star Trek a few years ago and had a great time. It's really fun to listen to another couple do the same thing and to hear them have some of the same reactions we had. I'm loving the show, keep it coming!
