In the tenth interview in this series, Pete talks to Sam Roach, a sessional acaedmic in the School of Law. Sam is teaching LLB104 Contemporary Law and Justice, LWS101 Ethics Law and Health Care and LLH401 Legal Research Capstone this semester. In LLB248 COVID-19 and the Law, students will examine Australia’s legal response to COVID-19 through a series of interactive modules that incorporate podcasts, text and formative quizzes. Each week, they will be assessed on how well they facilitate and contribute to online discussion of this content. QUT will also be working with community legal centres to identify social justice issues that have arisen due to COVID-19. As part of a virtual legal clinic, students will draft a policy report that examines one of these issues and critiques relevant policy and law. Community legal centres will be given access to some of these reports to help inform their work with vulnerable communities.
