Ways to support Queer Youth
Use LGBT Affirming language - Language has a huge impact on the way we see others and ourselves, and yet, language is constantly changing. That is why it is important to familiarize yourself and keep up-to-date with LGBT-related terms and concepts
Be visible - support lgbt student groups, correct others, attend events, post things, make your space visible, have books by and about queer folks
Know their challenges - who are the bullies, what is happening that might impact queer students?
Know the resources - websites, counselors, community centers, role models, peers
Help them socially connect Volunteer or give back in other ways
Nikeeta offers some insights on how we can better think about culture
