In sickness and health was one of the open and frank discussions I’ve heard about those struggling in the bedroom with health related issues and provided practical applications ideas to help resolve them. Glad I listened to this one.

I am thankful for the time and thoughtful effort that is put into each podcast. The information I am learning has helped me have a better understanding of my self and my relationship to my wife.

Trevor, Nick, and the gang are incredible. Silence in the church is a tool of the enemy and I am happy that they are talking about all of these issues. This podcast is incredibly helpful. Really thankful for it. As a stylistic point, I really wish they would reduce the intro time. WAY too long. Too much banter; just get to the guest and/or content. No reason for intros to be 5 minutes.

This is probably one of the best podcasts I’ve come across for dealing with sexual brokenness. I’ve been through (and in many ways am still going through) addiction and sexual brokenness and Pure Desires has consistently been one of the best resources I’ve found. Through my healing and the ups and downs of recovery, God has allowed me to be a part of walking with other men through this journey and the PD podcast is my first recommendation for anyone struggling with understanding and healing from sexual addiction from a Gospel perspective. The balance between Biblical, physiological, and the psychological nature of addiction is incredibly healthy and helpful. Keep up the great work Nick and Trevor- you guys are a blessing to many.

I spent years struggling alone and actively looking for help, but it was very difficult to find anyone who actually had experience. After not watching porn for a year I got the shakes one night trying to fight temptation and felt like a drug addict. I thought to myself, maybe this is an addiction? That was at age 19 after struggle for 6 years. I went too celebrate recovery at my church and the leader told me I was fine and didn’t need the program. Praise God I ignored him and did it anyway. It helped and I was sober 8 years. I got married, had kids, but always wanted a resource to help unpack some thoughts. Well I found pure desire about the same time I relapsed hard two years ago. Now the process of healing and recovery is beginning again. It’s very hard not to give in to hopelessness, but unlike 10 years ago I have pure desire to guide me. I’m never alone in Christ and having a guide (pure desire) reminds me there is hope for healing and helps open my eyes to my blind spots. I could write a novel about the ways this ministry has helped but the biggest goft is knowing there are people who have recovered and there are answers to many of the seeming unanswered questions I struggled with for years. Thank you for all you do and please never stop.

Until you all wake up to the fact that these Addicts are actually ABUSERS (please refer to Omar Minwalla’s method) this program is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS to victims!!! You don’t protect and promote safety first for the ABUSED spouse. 3 years ago I did your Betrayal and Beyond group with my husband doing the men’s group! Your almost year long program didn’t educate me on my safety being paramount and the ABUSE I had and was still enduring!! You didn’t tell me all the gaslighting, lies, manipulation and sex outside of my marriage was ABUSE! Had someone woken me up earlier and I didn’t need to waste the last three years finally finding out what was really going on in my marriage, I would have understood the abuse and gotten out sooner! God loves me and my safety more than my marriage! You need to call this what it is ABUSE!!!!!!

I listened to half of this episode and had to turn it off. I have found this podcast to be helpful but this episode bothered me. Instead of pointing out how much modern media at all levels promotes hyper sexuality, patriarchy, white supremacy, and female degradation the episode focuses on how many same sex couples are being portrayed in programming for kids. Please have your opinion about this topic but is it really the cause of unwanted sexual behavior? Isn’t recovery your purpose, there seems to be so much messaging that is truly destructive, the fact that you focused on same put a taint on the message you are trying to convey and the help that you are trying to provide.

I started recovery about 1 year ago and these podcasts are integral to my recovery journey! I listen to multiple podcasts most weeks to help me stay focused on my recovery. I re-listened to many of the podcasts and continue to do so. Excited for new episodes!

Love Pure Desire and all that you do. Started listening about a year ago after my wife revealed her infidelity and secret life she had been hiding. This podcast along with Pure Desire counseling has been essential to our healing so thank you! My one suggestion- the majority of references on the show are towards men as the offending spouse and women as the betrayed spouse (not always, but most) and I understand why that is, however it can detract from the true message when the example is exclusively men=betrayer and women=betrayed.

Hard to put in words what this podcast has meant for my life. Absolutely transformed my mentality on sexual addiction and true healing. PDM team, a HUGE thank you for your obedience in this. I found your podcast through Sheila Gregoire and I don’t have any personal issues with porn in my life or marriage. But I am in awe of how emotionally and spiritually healthy your advice and perspectives are and almost wish I shared this struggle so I could interact with your groups. I am an advocate in the domestic abuse field and so many of these concepts speak to that world as well. Thank you for putting out such positive content.

I can’t say enough about how God has used PD to infuse the gospel of Christ into my life. I was one of those who loved Jesus since I was 18, but continued to act out with porn, hurting myself and all those around me. I was dying a slow and lonely spiritual death! Like the Hebrew nation who cried to God for release from the bondage of the Egyptians, my cries were heard by my Father, who provided a Moses, Pure Desire, to lead me out of slavery to pornography and into a land of milk and honey. My wife and I both lead PD groups, now, and are working are way through the Connected couples study! Thank you, God! Thank you, Ted and Diane Roberts! And thank you Nick, Trevor and Justin (probably others) for providing so much encouragement through the podcast to those of us that are now working to defeat the enemy who have been squatting in the Promised Land! Only issue I have is that whatever issue that is talked about it is put in a box and everything associated with it is in the box. Most of the time I’m not in the box! Just listening to the great sec guide and I have never been part of that group that thinks that way.

Honestly though, At a moment in my life where I felt lost, angry and depressed with my addiction I remember searching “Father Wounds” and found this podcast. I will be forever grateful for that moment. That same year, my wife and I started counseling with Pure Desire which God used to save myself and my marriage. I would argue there is no other organization out there doing what PD does and this podcast is a great weekly rhythm that helps me and my wife pursue healing. Thank you for all that y'all do!
