The book of Psalms is the hymn book and prayer book of the Bible. These religious poems are of many kinds: hymns of praise and worship; prayer for help, protection and salvation, please for forgiveness; songs of thanksgiving for God's blessings. It is a sacred song or hymn, in particular any of those contained in the biblical Book of Psalms and used in Christian and Jewish worship.
