Things are really heating up, somewhat literally! Shirley is taking on this more masculine role in her and Caroline’s relationship, the mill is threatened, and Whitsuntide and leaves us all wondering what is going to happen next.

Shirley is the OG girl boss before girl boss became a negative connotation! She is really starting to show her character and I am so excited to see where she leads Caroline

We finally meet Shirley! In this episode we start to see a lot more development of both plot and characters, and we meet our beloved Shirley for the first time.

Things are starting to get spiiiicy! Caroline is introduced and we get to see things from a bit of a different perspective than we have in the previous chapters

Welcome to our fifth season and our new book for July! Shirley is a typical novel of the time, so these first chapters are really dedicated to setting the scene and getting us familiar with the sociopolitical climate of the time and the principal characters of the text.

Whew boy y’all, the ultimate cliffhanger ending for this episode! We get totally bowled over, and just in time for the finale

We are starting to approach the conclusion of this text and yet it already feels like we have entirely too much to cover in such a short amount of time!! How do we feel about Stephen? What is going on with Tom? Will Maggie cave under the pressure? Too many questions!

We are really getting into the meat and potatoes of this text now and it looks like we are headed full steam ahead until the end. How will Tom’s new venture go? Will Maggie succumb to Philip’s plans?

Things are definitely starting to ramp up in these chapters and I am left with even more questions. Where do they go from here? Why is Mrs. Tulliver so obtuse? Will anyone ever give Maggie the time of day???
