I read the book and have implemented Profit first in my business. I absolutely love the content of this Podcast…..I’m 45 episodes in. What’s driving me nuts is Danielle’s delivery. It sounds like she’s REALLY bad at reading a teleprompter. If I hear “my entrepreneurial friend” one more time I’m going to jump off a bridge. I thought maybe she would get better….but 45 episodes in, she’s the same. Mike is great when he’s on. He just talks and sounds legit.

Bait and switchy. I was expecting to hear from the author and not be handed off to someone else. It’s also 5:42 AM and the coffee hasn’t kicked in yet, but to my ears, the host needs a voice coach so she is not so screechy. I assume she is going for an energetic, but her performance vocals sound harsh and unpleasant, like somebody trying to get a bartenders’ attention in a trendy downtown micro-brew. In this case, two strikes and I’m done. I’ll go back and listen to the audiobooks again. Unfollowed.

After reading and implementing Profit First a few years ago, I decided to take a step further and start listening to Danielle’s podcast to see what else I could improve in my business. I started my company, Doggie Beer Bones back in 2010 selling dog treats re-using the malted barley used in the beer brewing process. My business was a hobby that was born out of my home brewing hobby! Fast forward to 2018, I went full-time with Doggie Beer Bones after taking a voluntary severance package from my “day job“. At that point, I had a very basic understanding about how to run a business and needed a lot more experience and knowledge! I first reached out to Danielle around September 2021 with some simple questions about how to include my COGS in my allocations. Since then, we’ve had several touch base conversations, and each time I come away with another couple action items that ultimately improve my bottom line. I highly encourage reaching out to Danielle directly if you have any questions about Profit First. She is 100% approachable and willing to share her knowledge even with a company owner like me that was not consistently profitable. After one call, she sent me a customized Allocations Day calculator along with a separate email introduction to a Profit First friendly bank. As a thank you, I sent her a bag of dog treats and she promptly responded with 5 great ideas for me to consider in my business - one of which is our Subscription dog treat service! We ran through my numbers and reset my allocation targets, and also did her reverse engineering Calculator on my business to give me better focus on where I needed to improve my wholesale, retail, and subscription service orders. We’ve also talked about (and I’ve implemented) one-off projects like creating a wholesale customer case study for my new customer calls. Bottom line, if you are a driven entrepreneur and want to take your business to the next level, I highly recommend listening to this podcast and reaching out to Danielle with any questions!

If you had asked me if I was going to be an entrepreneur at the age of 30, I would’ve laughed in your face. I didn’t grow up learning about finances and had poor examples of dealing with money. I’ve always been frugal, but i’m learning that that’s not enough for a sustainable business. Danielle makes you feel like you can implement profit first quickly and efficiently. As a person that struggles wiI’mADHD, reading the book was not enough for me. Im very excited to continue listening and implementing these tools in a way that doesn’t overwhelm me! Keep it coming!!

I read and implemented Profit First years ago and love it! This podcast is a gold mine! Danielle offered practical and tactical advice and tips on implementing Profit First as well as other sounds business advice and tactics. I like the no-nonsense approach as well.

Listening to Danielle I was able to drive revenue up 10% AND expenses down 10% AND just raised prices another 10% all while my customers are happier than ever. This is all in a very established business where everyone says it couldn’t be done. So glad I found Profit First Nation.

I love the book profit first and I’ve incorporated the principles into my business. I find this podcast helpful overall but sometimes difficult to listen to because it’s clear the host is reading a prepared statement rather than just talking naturally. Please consider not reading and simply speaking your mind! I don’t know how other podcasters do it, but I assume they have an outline or a list of points they want to hit in front of them, but not a full narrative. Speaking naturally may result in mistakes and imperfections, but it will be a lot more enjoyable to listen to.

There is such good potential for the podcast as there are great topics. I have a hard time listening to Danielle as she it painfully obvious she is reading the entire show. I’d like to hear more from Mike as well.

I read Profit First last year and thought it was a good system for our business, but felt we were not ready to implement it. Came across the podcast — binged 10 episodes and got my butt to the bank on Monday to open our accounts. This podcast was the push I needed. Highly recommend this for every small business owner.

Love listening to the profit first podcast as I am inspired after each episode! Danielle guides us through the Profit First system and how to make a profit even in these uncertain times! I fully believe in this system and Danielle’s teaching as she has helped me make a profit (gold) in my business. She has also made a difference in the lives of so many of my entrepreneur friends!
