Today we're discussing negativity, pessimism, and toxic positivity. Today's episode is guided by the topics, reap what you sow, controlled reaction, toxic positivity, lean on the bright side, your own feelings and thoughts feelings and truth. With all of these buzzwords, how can we remain neutral, diplomatic, and dancing in the grey area. In my past I've struggled with Chicken Little Syndrome, meaning, the sky is always falling... When something bad happens in the world it feels like its happening directly to you. When we focus on the negative side of things, it reinforces our negative mindset by proving to ourselves that there's a reason to be negative. You can change your negative mindset to be more positive by finding more positive examples. Our minds think in absolutes, the only way to combat a negative mindset is to find the exception to the rule. Perhaps you have a reason to be negative, your feelings are valid. I want to challenge you to find the brightside even when it feels impossible. Not to cherry pick only the positive things in life, but to balance your past of cherry picking the negatives. Everyone would prefer sweet cherries over bitter and when you're older and look back at the basket of your life, you'll want to see a higher majority of sweetness than bitterness.Alternate titles:
