You make me feel... mighty real. Releasing triggers and insecurity.
Have you ever used or received Jonah Hill boundaries? Like the, don't do this, you can't do that, I'm feeling insecure and it's your fault kind of boundaries? I think we've all had a brush with the type of person who at the drop of a hat, puts the pedal to the metal in their - red hot - no touch - boundaries. I'd like to discuss the lingering feelings we get after trauma. In this profound and insightful episode, I delve into the complex subject of trauma, its lingering effects, and the power of healing and release. Please be aware that I will not delve into explicit traumatic experiences, but I encourage you to consider your own emotional well-being before listening. As the host, I'm a passionate advocate for personal growth. Please remember that I'm not a mental health professional, but I offer valuable insights based on my personal beliefs, opinions, and experiences. Disagreement is welcome, and I encourage open dialogue. Fault and Responsibility: I explore the distinction between fault and responsibility in the context of trauma. While it's essential to acknowledge the external causes of our pain, it's equally crucial to understand that we are responsible for our healing journey. Using a powerful analogy, I discuss how emotional injuries can be likened to physical injuries and emphasize the importance of taking ownership of our emotions. Understanding Emotional Wounds: I dive into the hidden emotional wounds that often linger beneath the surface, affecting our behavior and relationships. We explore how unprocessed emotional wounds can manifest as physical ailments and discuss the importance of addressing these hidden scars to live a fulfilling life. We discuss unprocessed emotions that taint your life regardless of your cognizance and acknowledgement of the emotion. We discuss migratory feelings that live in the body and manifest as tension. Breaking Cycles: Trauma often leads to the development of repetitive patterns and cycles. I examine the "why me" mindset and the detrimental impact of getting stuck in these cycles. I offer guidance on how to break free from these cycles and embrace personal growth and healing. Setting Boundaries: Learn about the significance of setting healthy boundaries in personal relationships. I provide practical advice on establishing boundaries and fostering open communication to build trust and understanding. The Release Process: I share a powerful ritual for emotional release that I do during full moons. This practice provides an opportunity to process and release accumulated emotional stress, promoting emotional well-being and preventing future triggers. I highlight the importance of patience and rest in this process. The Role of Forgiveness: I discuss the concept of forgiveness as a personal choice rather than a mandatory step in the healing process. Understanding the role of forgiveness in releasing emotional baggage is explored. When someone else owns the control for closure our process for release is reliant on someone else's timeline. Conclusion and Empowerment: In closing, I offer words of encouragement and support for those on a healing journey. Trauma is not the end of the story; it's a chapter in your life. This episode aims to empower listeners to take control of their emotions, break free from cycles, and release the emotional burdens they carry. Join me in this enlightening conversation about trauma, healing, and personal growth. Remember, you are not alone in your journey, and there is hope for brighter days ahead. Cheers for now! Overthinking, a scale between intrusive thoughts and creativity | with special guest Nasir Awale
Hi! I'm so flippin excited to present this interview. I absolutely love Nasir, he is so full of wisdom and insight and I loved having him on my show. Nasir and I spoke about overthinking and how it relates to intrusive thoughts, creativity, building relationships, developing a sense of self. As always, I try to find a positive aspect to this perceived flaw that many of us carry. Through this interview we've discovered that certain qualities such as overthinking can lead to preparedness, attention to detail, and living life protected from surprises. We've also discovered that these same traits that help you through school, and in certain career paths, it's not always the best quality to have in other situations such as making friends, or being creative. We discuss the difference between augmenting your personality to suit the environments you're in, while also paying homage to times in our lives where we've had to augment too much and end up abandoning our true selves in the pursuit of belonging. Please keep in touch with Nasir, he's an artist and entrepreneur and you can admire and even buy his beautiful works of art on his instagram: @awaleartinc Other helpful links: Buy me a coffee: ko-fi.com/procrasturbationstation Marketing Mastery program: cofellow.podia.com/ Instagram: @cofellow  Tiktok: @procrasturbationstation Email: [email protected] (business inquiries only)

What are creative blocks? Where does creativity come from? Is it a spiritual practice? Interview with Liv
With today's episode I bring you something new! Firstly, check out my sick intro with background music and sound effects :) I also have a returning and still special guest with today's episode, Liv Arcangeli the creativity coach and we're discussing creative blocks. Follow up to our first interview together titled: Cultivating Sustainable Creativity with Special Guest Liv Arcangeli We're back with more to say on creativity, Now that we've covered how to cultivate more of it, we discuss how to keep it from slipping away. Our subtopics for this episode include, creative blocks, where creativity comes from and what's the stem, thorn and rose bud to our respective current creative journeys. We discuss real fears as a creative person as well as an entrepreneur and where the blocks seem to stem from like the fear of whether or not you can succeed transforms into a fear of your success being taken away. Did you know creative blocks are a taboo topic? I didn't. We also have a make a major right turn towards genetics and biology before going back to our regularly scheduled programming. Liv helps people move through creative blocks and embody their creative potential, she covers what exactly a creative block is and how she helps her clients move through it with her system within this episode, get your pencils out ✏️ Her system moves you through your foundations, your vision, your mindset, your practice that helps you feel connected, a system of inspiration and your community. We discuss how her system resembles a hierarchy of needs yet she sees it as a circle, which I love because it allows you to look at the pie chart of your life and address more slices than one at a time. If you want a quick and dirty way to unblock your creativity: Liv says look at your foundations. Address your needs with sleep, food, social time, rest, your friggen posture, all of these little things that keep you human are the best medicine to inspire your creativity. When you're feeling blocked it's likely because your needs aren't being met. Where does creativity come from? Identify where you find new ideas, like in the shower or going for a walk, you can start to notice your ideas. Or, perhaps you're like me and you have no issue with having ideas, but you struggle more with executing your ideas, How do we nurture ourselves in order to cultivate a creative career, in order to ensure we have enough inspiration and execution juice to consistently produce effective work? Liv says make an effort to live in a rest and digest state, as in the anti-fight or flight or some may call somatic state. Make time for the things that bring you joy so that you can tap into a space of stillness in order to find the impulse within that drives us to create. When you are more rested and you have inspiration, your execution flows from the nourishment of your rest. As a creative mind we rework things, we problem solve. I go on a tangent about reinvention, creative entrepreneurs are reinventors, constantly innovating the status quo in order to evolve the norm, whereas recreational creation is a journey to tap into the soul. How creation is like boot camp for a rogue narrator dictating the story of your life, where you teach your narrator to be gentle within the process of reworking your creation. We discuss energy and flow and routine, and how creativity can live within the boring mundane, and it can also live in disrupting routines. It can be anything, it's the life force that runs through us, we access it through nature and through our breath. If you're working through your creative droughts, chill on it and allow the process to take course, and allow yourself to explore new mediums of creation. How to Start a Podcast: Nurturing your Community
On the final episode of the how to start a podcast series we'll be discussing the essential aspects of building a community around your podcast. Choosing the Right Hosting Platform: There are so many options when choosing a hosting platform. Popular options include Anchor, SoundCloud Rumble, among others. Consider factors such as ease of use, pricing if any, and the features offered when making your decision. Ensure that the platform you choose allows for easy distribution to major platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts. Anchor, is my choice as it offers free distribution to major platforms and allows for post-publishing edits. Availability on Major Platforms: Your hosting platform is different than where you distribute your show. Prioritize major platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Audible to ensure easy access for your audience. Each platform has its own submission process, so it's essential to follow their guidelines and requirements. Distributing your podcast widely can reach broader audiences, but can be daunting when you're starting out. Start witht the 2 foremost mentions in my list. Launching Your Podcast: A well-executed launch plan can help your podcast gain traction and attract listeners. Consider creating a launch strategy that includes promoting your show on social media, networking with other podcasters and being a guest on their shows. Your friends and family can provide an initial boost, but it's crucial not to rely solely on them for ongoing support. Understanding Your Audience and Their Phases: Your audience will go through phases as they engage with your podcast. It's your responsibility as the creator to make it easy for them to decide to subscribe and become loyal listeners. Understand why someone would want to follow your show and create content that resonates with their interests and needs. You can make your audience feel seen, help them overcome obstacles, inform and entertain them, or offer unique perspectives on various topics. Tap into what matters to them and provide value consistently. Networking and Nurturing Your Community: Building a network is essential for cross-promotion. Join podcasting groups on social media, attend events and conferences, and reach out to other podcasters to build relationships. Networking extends beyond friends and family. Engage with your audience online, respond to feedback, and create a social media presence for your podcast. Encourage comments and feedback to foster a sense of community. Networking to pitch your cause and to build connections around shared interests. Nurturing Your Audience: Engaging with your audience and responding to feedback is crucial for nurturing your community. Create a social media plan and manage your social media presence. Create social media videos and graphics that highlight the most shareable aspects of each episode. Manage your social media accounts efficiently by using templates and batching likes with likes. Cater your content to the feedback you receive, and trust yourself to stay true to your vision. Nurture yourself by taking breaks and maintaining a consistent, sustainable schedule. Social Media and Digital Marketing: Use platforms such as YouTube and Patreon to compliment your podcast. Start with one platform at a time and ensure you have a good grasp on the basics before branching out. Develop a launch plan and market your show through various channels, including social media, email lists, and websites. Consider managing an email list to inform your subscribers about new updates, summaries, and engage with their feedback. Marketing your show aims to expand your reach, ask questions, and integrate your audience's knowledge into your content. Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I encourage you to watch the previous episodes if you haven't already. Stay tuned for my next tutorial series, where we'll dive into the world of marketing your podcast. Cheers!
