Cloudbreak Discovery PLC chief executive Kyler Hardy speaks to Proactive following the announcement that responsibility for its mineral exploration will be transferred to a new wholly owned subsidiary Cloudbreak Exploration Inc. Cloudbreak Discovery meanwhile intends to focus on energy royalty acquisitions in the United States and acquisitions of minority interests in international energy projects. Hardy describes the change as "very accretive news for the company" that is "coming along quite nicely."

The FTSE 100 roared ahead in early trading, buoyed by positive trading updates from BP and Ocado, and a miners’ rally. The blue-chip index was up by more than 10% at nearly 7,200 points. Food distributor Ocado’s shares jumped 20% after it announced a further push into Asia with a tie-up with the retail arm of South Korean conglomerate, Lotte Group Oil giant BP’s third-quarter profits hit $8.2bn from $3.3bn last year, as high crude and gas prices buoyed its upstream business. An $800mln windfall tax bill did little to slow its momentum. Elsewhere in tax, reports today suggest that fresh rises are anticipated in the government’s financial statement on 17 November. Treasury sources say that the UK’s fiscal gap might be as much as £50bn and can’t be met by spending cuts alone. In the US new Twitter CEO Elon Musk has dissolved the company’s board and will run the social media giant by himself, while a quarter of staff are also expected to leave the business. Among the small caps, payments and software group Eckoh expects “significantly higher” full-year revenue and profit, with sales growing by 33% in its latest half-year update. And Cornish Metals has reached an agreement to lease certain mineral rights located immediately adjacent to the southern boundary of its South Crofty deposit in Cornwall. Franchise Brands executive chair Stephen Hemsley speaks to Proactive following the publication of what he calls "robust" third-quarter results. Franchise Brands is benefiting from growth in its two biggest businesses, Filta in the US and Metro Rod in the UK. NEXGEL (NASDAQ:NXGL) CEO Adam Levy joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with details of a new hydrogel eye patch the company has developed to treat amblyopia, a type of poor vision that typically occurs in one eye but can occur in both. Levy says amblyopia is present in 2% to 4% of the American population, creating a large opportunity for NEXGEL. The patches are gentle, can be worn for long periods of time without experiencing any pain or discomfort and are suitable for children, he says. He also discusses positive results from a proof-of-concept study on diclofenac hydrogel patches designed to treat pain caused by arthritis, joint pain, muscle aches and more.
