Thee band is arguably a leader of the new wave of British heavy metal, having eight UK Top 40 albums in the 1980s. Ian Anderson MBE of Jethro Tull, the British rock band formed in Blackpool in 1967. From playing blues rock and jazz fusion, the band later developed their sound to incorporate elements of hard rock and folk to forge a uniquely progressive rock style.
