Preaching to Birds (and Cats)
Preaching to Birds (and Cats)
Kerri Meyer
Preaching to Birds (and Cats) is a podcast of ecologically-minded homilies on the Revised Common Lectionary. The Rev. Kerri Meyer is a farmer and Episcopal priest at Good Courage Farm in Minnesota. The podcast's name is in homage to St. Francis of Assisi, lover of the Creator and Creation, with a wink to Rebecca West, a critic of the saint's legendary preaching to wild birds.
Holy Week 2020 - On Birdsong and the Stones' Crying Out
Here's a reflection on scriptures from Palm Sunday (though not for this Lectionary Year - I've gone rogue).  The praise of the crowds is pretty silent in this time of pandemic.  What blessings might come of the stones' having to cry out for us?

Bonus: Jesus Christ the Apple Tree (Paul Damico-Carper)
A Christmas gift for you from a gifted musician friend. Paul Damico-Carper arranged and recorded this guitar/vocal setting of the carol "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree" for his family and friends a few Christmases back.  I'm so grateful that he's been willing to share it with us through this podcast project. If you've listened to the sermon for the second week of Advent (On Top-Grafting),  you know some of the story of how dear this hymn is to me and how it is shaping the theology behind our work here at Good Courage Farm.
