My guest today is Chef Donatella Arpaia. Donatella is an accomplished celebrity chef, dynamic restaurateur, television personality, author, entrepreneur, and a wife and mother of three. As the child of first-generation Italian immigrants, Donatella spent her summers in Italy. Donatella left her job as a corporate lawyer at age 26 to follow her true passion in the food world. A year later, she opened her first restaurant, Bellini, in New York City. Donatella has since opened up many other award-winning restaurants. She is well known as the head judge on Food Network’s Iron Chef America and The Next Iron Chef. She makes regular appearances on national television shows such as ABC’s Good Morning America, NBC’s TODAY Show, and many others. Donatella is also the Brand Ambassador for Philips Kitchen Appliances North America.

In this episode, I talk with expert hair colorist and stylist, Dorothy Destefano. Dorothy talks about why she got started in this industry, and tells us how she knows what hair color to suggest to a client based upon their complexion and eye color. She discusses why one color can make someone look washed out while another will make them look vibrant. Dorothy counsels us on how often someone should color and how to cover grey more effectively with less oxidizing. She recommends a good shampoo and conditioner for color-treated hair and tells us how she has kept up with trends and new techniques during COVID.
