We are thankful today for Bella! Bella is one of the family milk cows on The Last Bastion Homestead. She recently gave birth, and subsequently came down with milk fever. This resulted in her laying down and not being able to stand up on her own. Milk fever is due to a calcium definciency. If a cow cant stand up in 24-48 hours, it will likely die.  In todays episode we tell Bella's story. The ups and downs, the good, bad and ugly. There were tears shed and times of sorrow but ultimately we were succesful in getting her up. The two days of lifting, prying, hoping, kicking, praying, digging, and being pleasantly surprised, reinforced in us the idea that community is so important.
