POTUS Life returns with the story of not Bill Clinton and Batman's great great great grandsomething, Mad Anthony Wayne

Justin took a trip to the place we are talking about in today’s podcast; walked the lands; smelled the grass; gambled in the casinos. We will be digging into why George chose Valley Forge, the layout of valley forge, and some of the significant characters that joined George during his winter quarter. We also talk about the great news that George receives in the spring of 1778.

OH BOY! This episode, Ryan decides to drink a little bit too much. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Regardless, we push through… General Horatio Gates scores a massive win at Saratoga. He manages to capture the British General John Burgoyne. This is YUGE! After this win, people start crap-talking George behind his back. Congress decides that Georges needs a little help (aka, they want more say over Washington’s actions); so they design the Board of War to meddle in his affair a little bit. Washington learns of all this crap-talking and finds out about a plot to soil his reputation and replace him from his good-time/long-time friend, Lord Sterling… However, Washington plays it cool (mostly) and puts an end to all this by calling out the players involved.

Spoiler alert… Washington is messing it all up again. But have no fear, he's just as brave as he’s ever been. Before we talk about a massive blunder by George, we talk a little about Benny Arnold. We also get into George’s arts and craft skills. Then we learn about how Howe beats Georgie’s tush and eventually takes Philadelphia. Washington attempts to fight back, but that doesn't go well either.

My its been a long time. Sorry for the break, we have been busy celebrating the holidays. Also, one of us had all of our audio recording equipment stolen. Anyways... This podcast we take a trip down south and abroad. Basically, we have been talking a lot about military and political actions in the northern part of the colonies. The south was kind of on board with the British; they didn’t want much to change. Nathanael Green was in charge of the patriot actions in the south; as a mentee of George Washington, we are going to see a lot of similarities. But don’t worry, there are definitely some interesting differences. Also today, we talk about Benjamin Franklin the actions that he and his partners took over in France, Spain and other areas abroad.

This week we continue to talk about espionage in the Revolutionary War. Some of the major players, on the domestic espionage front, were associated with a little group called the Sons of Liberty. Samuel Adams (not the beer) was one of the groups major players in this group; however, he did not found it, contrary to popular belief. We also have a discussion about a guy named John Jay… He basically tried to make figuring out who was an enemy spy and who wasn’t a standard process. Up until Jay, it was a complete which hunt; people would basically say whoever they didn’t like was a spy.

What a treat! Today we are launching ourselves into a mini-series on espionage. The American Revolution was rife with spying. In this episode we talk about some of the first spy casualties, the Culper ring, and other influential characters in the domestic spy game.

For this show, Justin and I went to Home Depot, purchased some tiki torches, and recorded this show basking in their soft, flickering glow… It’s all the rage. Howe is chilling in winter quarters; he’s all about that ball lifestyle. Washington has had his Mr. Miagi montage moment and is ready to start assembling his all-start team.

On the day of our lort and savior's birthday 1776, George sets in motion a plan to embarrass the British, leverage a strategic advantage, and crush the Hessians in Trenton. This show covers some pretty epic moments in early American history. One scene from today's episode was reimagined by painter Emanuel Leutz. 'Washingtons crossing the Deleware' is one of the most iconic images of the revolutionary war; however, the image is far from what actually happened that cold Christmas day 1776.
