On Ada Lovelace
Ada Lovelace was Lord Byron’s daughter. She was not “friends” with Mary Shelley. Pretty sure Lady Shelley was dead by the time Ada was born.

Antidote to “Waking Up”
…or whatever that podcast is named now. Mounds of receipts each episode. Thanks.

These aren’t topics I’m super informed on, but I appreciate the depth and work that go into them! I feel like I learned something from a perspective I’m not familiar with.

Eiynah Made Me an Ex-New Atheist
Eiynah effectively ended my brief affair with New Atheism by giving me the moral clarity I needed to distinguish generic anti-religious sentiment from, e.g., Sam Harris’s anti-Muslim bigotry. I wish I had shared this podcast with certain “bros” from my old philosophy club, for whom “Making Sense” was (and probably remains) comfort food, before a few of them went full transphobe :(

Glad you’re back!
You were missed! You’re brilliant.

refreshingly honest.
Eiynah is a breath of fresh air. The internet has become an increasingly more frustrating space of so called intellectuals spreading dangerous ideas, and she combats its intelligently and entertainingly. Very insightful guests too.

Polite Convo Podcasts
Absolutely perfect podcast. I’ve listened to the whole back catalogue and it provides a great beat by beat history on new atheism and all it’s anti-Muslim bigotry

I’d give the show a full five stars if she’d be more mindful resolving — or, to make a strong point, not resolving — her tension-building monologues. I think she underestimates how powerful her use of music can be emotionally on listeners and needs to take the reigns to be certain she leaves the audience in a manageable emotional state. Unless she doesn’t want to but that’s not how she comes off.

Sam Harris fans, beware!
I’ve been listening to this podcast since it launched quite a few years ago and it’s only gotten better with age. Eiynah, the host, provides a Saudi-raised, ex-Muslim perspective on contemporary politics. She began with a critique of conservative Islam, and as secular forces such as the New Atheist movement shifted rightward with the rise of Trumpism, she turned her incisive critique on them. Through interviews, audio essays, and the use of damning clips, Eiynah skewers the Intellectual Dark Web, with a particular focus on fellow podcaster Sam Harris. If you’re a fan of his, beware. Eiynah deconstructs Harris’s whole reactionary-in-liberal-clothing scam, and we’re all better off for it.

Self indulgent nonsense
She’s so upset. About something that does effect her. Because it’s about her. She is our world. Just a ridiculous podcast.

Amazing show!!
Very thoughtful and well researched! Eiynah is so great, her humor is fantastic! She does a great job of explaining topics throughly while keeping me super engaged!

A necessary challenge to “classical liberals” and the IDW
At the start of 2020, I’d been listening to Rogan every day and Harris when I could. I’d come to think of them and the other IDW figures as intellectuals and champions of free thought via new atheist debate videos and the like. Throughout the pandemic, I began questioning my assumption that they act in good faith after clear misinformation -that I could debunk with a 5 minute Google search- became a staple of the shows. The Polite Conversation podcast has helped me to examine the facts and claims that I assumed were true, and I have found myself elated that my basic desire to treat people as people is not, in fact, discouraged by science or good reason. At times I find myself embarrassed by my previous thoughts and actions that were influenced by my assumption, but I cannot be more grateful to this podcast and it’s lovely host for helping me understand my cognitive errors.

Poor
I had to turn it off after 5 minutes. So much drama, so little content.

Obsession, delusion, CRINGE! 😬
I came across this after hearing nothing of this lady for years. It boggles the mind that anyone would have so little self-respect, so little imagination, that they would mold their identity in relation to another person. I hope she gets the psychological help she needs. Hint: it’s not on social media, nor among the adoring sycophants who themselves suffer from some variant of this condition. Peace and love. ☮️ 💗

What happened?
Not sure what to make of this. Eiynah was circa 2016 a fairly incisive and lucid commentator on a wide scope of issues. She would hold her own in conversations with luminaries of all types—the result were arguments that were interesting and valuable. Unfortunately, These last few years her output has devolved into that of one more woke intellectual lightweight. What was once a cerebral podcast is now an unrelenting pattern of flip remarks! Her ongoing obsession with Sam Harris is especially cringe. Sad. (At least we agree that Dave Rubin is a disingenuous simpleton).

Hugely underrated
I don’t know how many of the 1-star ratings come from religious Muslims angry that she’s an apostate and how many come from IDW/“New Atheist”-types angry that she calls out racism and xenophobia. Eiynah is good at sticking to her principles and is an ex-Muslim who refuses to be weaponized by the anti-Muslim right.

Great
Thanks eiynah for being a principled ex Muslim

Valley Girl rants
This woman’s voice and diction is incompatible to deep listening. Plus, her voice leaky drips with disdain and condescension. Unconvincing.

Social justice catechism
Do you want to hear someone share the most conformist social justice catechism while throwing endless accusations guilt by association and “dog whistling?” Then this is the podcast for you. Enjoy your struggle session! Note: Her conversations about religion were fairly interesting, but then the host adopted a new extreme religious orthodoxy around 2016.

Outstanding!
Honest and well thought out discussions.

Easily my favorite social+political podcast
Eiynah is highly-seasoned and well-rounded regarding various social and political climates, and how they intersect, which is partly thanks to how we use the internet. She books fascinating guests to explore hot topics candidly and with a true sense of purpose that these crucial conversations tend lack.

Excellent podcast
This is an excellent, nuanced and much needed podcast!

Important
I';ve neglected in pushing ratings for a while now. Einyah is a voice speaking agiinst the so-called "intellectual dark web", while brtinging her own personal experiences in life, and reaching out to other people who have wandered from well-trodden paths (like me!). Guve this a listen!

Great podcast
Eina has a great perspective. She candidly criticizes Islam without giving any cover to Islam a phobia and the alt right. She has a grease and podcast presence about her that makes her show really delightful. And I laugh every time I hear the intro.

Such a wonderfully nuanced perspective
Love this show. Eiynah really does a great job working through hard issues and being honest rather than trying to hold to any one narrative. Always worth a listen.

Great show
Fresh voice in the skeptic community.

Small but powerful
It's a shame this podcast only has ten or eleven reviews at this point. Oh well, great pod. Eiynah balances the tight rope of being a critic of Islam and advocate of human rights very well. She is calm, collect, and eloquent and chooses some excellent guests both on her perspective level and people who are not. Give her a review! Even though you didn't respond on twitter Eiynah I don't hold it against you :)

Terrific podcast
This is an extremely informative podcast about religion, secularism, gender issues, and human rights. I especially appreciate how controversial topics are addressed from many perspectives.

Excellent Podast
The Non Conference Speech is an amazing 15 minutes. The Sam Harris interview is also great. Keep up the good work. Constructive criticism: higher quality recording equipment would be great if economically workable--audio can be a bit tinny at times.

Excellet, intelligent, entertaining
This is a really great podcast where real issues are discussed and complicated, sometimes uncomfortable issues are explored. Very brave, the real thing. (One thing, it is funny how the people who ramble on and on without ever getting to a point are the ones who complain about being interrupted the most).

eiynah is amazing!
keep it up, and refuse to be silenced

Fantastic
This podcast lives up to its name. Many episodes involve guests (and the host) discussing subjects about which they disagree. These are the. It's valuable and enjoyable types of conversations to listen to, and I'm glad this podcast provides that. Highly recommended.
