Using the lens of military leadership, we will discuss leadership, experience, and life. When you know the way broadly, you see the way in all things- this is how we will connect the seemingly unconnected.
Episode 32: DEF Reset Recap
We started 2024 off like many Americas...striving to become more fit, healthier, and more productive. I jumped on the DEF Reset program put out by Jocko Willink and his empire of companies. In episode 28 I talked about my plan of attack and what I was going to do to be able to execute this plan at a high level. After a month of unforeseen variables, I was able to accomplish the thing I set out to accomplish. I became better because of this program, and I hope you did too. www.mikeschiavone.com www.jockofuel.com "Schiavone10"

Episode 30: Growth Through Struggle
Failure is only permanent if you allow it to be. The concept of Growth Through Struggle empowers leaders at the top, and subordinate leadership to go out, do the job, learn from mistakes and create a better outcomes from the lessons learned. Dwight D. Eisenhower was a champion of this idea as the Supreme Allied Commander during World War Two, and every leader moving forward should be as well. www.mikeschiavone.com www.JockoFuel.com "Schiavone10"

Episode 27: Tribe
In this week's episode we discuss Sebastian Junger's book Tribe. The idea that the ancient way of life, the native way of living in a community that is centered around the greater good of the people doing the work is one lost on modern society. However, this idea is not new. There are accounts from the early Colonial days in America of men and women leaving the modern world to integrate themselves into the native Tribes. In 2023, nearly 2024 we need to analyze that way of life, and see how it can be applied to our nation moving forward. The take aways from this book at tremendous. Purchase it for yourself and think about what you can do to get back to the tribe mindset. www.mikeschiavone.com www.jockofuel.com "Schiavone10" Purchase 'Tribe' here

Episode 26: Risk and Glory
In this episode we finalize our Antarctic Leadership mini series highlighting the work and leadership practices of Roald Amundsen and Ernest Shackleton. Both men led incredible expeditions across Antarctica but they were at the top of their game. Their ability to lead in the most dire of circumstances, ask questions, and allow their people to execute led to them being two of the most successful leaders during the Heroic Age of Exploration. www.mikeschiavone.com www.jockofuel.com 'Schiavone10'

Episode 24: An Unsung Hero
Antarctic Leadership Mini Series Part 2 Thomas Crean was a man's man. He began serving in the Royal Navy at the ages of 16 which led directly to him completing three expeditions to Antarctica. Thomas was the epitome of an NCO, he didn't want fame, he didn't want glory, he just put his head down and did the work. His efforts made an impact in everything that he did. If a leader needed a hard job done, they went to Crean. The only time one did not, he and his men perished. www.mikeschiavone.com www.jockofuel.com "schiavone10"

Episode 23: Antarctic Leadership
The Heroic Age of Exploration occurred from the late 18 to early 1900s. Men from across the globe set out to explore the most extreme locations on earth- the Arctic, and Antarctica. These voyages, especially to Antarctica, were a microcosm of the most intense lessons in leadership. Over the next five weeks we will highlight individuals that in my opinion optimize why Antarctic Leadership is such a powerful lesson and how we can apply it to our own lives. As we said in Episode 22- when you know the way broadly, you see the way in all things. Stay tuned in for our mini series on Antarctic Leadership! www.mikeschiavone.com www.jockofuel.com "Schiavone10"
