No one likes to be left out. Even those of us who are introverts
want to feel a connection, wanted and cared for. Unfortunately, we
live in a world where people feel like they are nothing; and because
of that feeling, they go down terrible roads of sin and loss.
We may be insignificant to the worldwide population, but we are
called for so much more! This Sabbath we will take a look at
someone who may seem insignificant to us and see how they can
help teach us about who we really are.

“The sphere of the mother may be humble; but her influence, united
with the father’s, is as abiding as eternity. Next to God, the
mother’s power for good is the strongest known on earth.”

“While we cannot do anything to change our hearts or to bring ourselves into harmony with God; while we must not trust at all to ourselves or our good works, our lives will reveal whether the grace of God is dwelling within us. A change will be seen in the character, the habits, the pursuits. The contrast will be clear and decided between what they have been and what they are. The char-acter is revealed, not by occasional good deeds and occasional misdeeds, but by the tendency of the habitual words and acts.
It is true that there may be an outward correctness of deportment without the renewing power of Christ. The love of influence and the desire for the esteem of others may produce a well-ordered life. Self-respect may lead us to avoid the appearance of evil. A selfish heart may perform generous actions. By what means, then, shall we determine whose side we are on?
Who has the heart? With whom are our thoughts? Of whom do we love to converse? Who has our warmest affections and our best energies? If we are Christ's, our thoughts are with Him, and our sweetest thoughts are of Him. All we have and are is consecrated to Him. We long to bear His image, breathe His spirit, do His will, and please Him in all things.”

“A lover of children visited a certain school and talked to the youngsters. He said, ‘I am coming back again sometime, and I am going to give a prize to the one who has the cleanest desk.’
‘But when are you coming back?’ was the question.
‘That I cannot tell,’ was the answer.
A little girl who was noted for her disorderly habits announced to the other children that she intended to win the prize.
‘You?’ the schoolmates jeered. ‘You will never get it; your desk is always out of order.’
‘But I mean to clean it the first of every week’
‘Yes, but suppose he should come at the end of the week?’
‘Then I’ll clean it every morning.’ she responded.
‘But suppose he comes in the afternoon.’
She thought awhile. Then she said, ‘I know what I’ll do. I’ll just keep it clean.’
Thus it must be with those who love their Lord’s appearing. They must be ready all the time; they must keep their lives clean through His grace. They know not when He shall come—at evening, at midnight, in the morning, or at noon. They must remember that the Savior’s words were not ‘Get ready,’ but ‘Be ye ready.’”

“God wants every child of tender age to be His child, to be adopted
into His family. Young though they may be, the youth may be
members of the household of faith and have a most precious experience.
They may have hearts that are tender and ready to receive
impressions that will be lasting. They may have their hearts drawn
out in confidence and love for Jesus, and live for the Saviour.”

“May God be merciful to us and bless us and make His face to shine on us. The whole world needs to know your will, O God, and what you can do for people, both physically and spiritually.”

“In friendship...we think we have chosen our peers. In reality a few years' difference in the dates of our births, a few more miles be-tween certain houses, the choice of one university instead of anoth-er...the accident of a topic being raised or not raised at a first meet-ing—any of these chances might have kept us apart. But, for a Christian, there are, strictly speaking no chances. A secret master of ceremonies has been at work. Christ, who said to the disciples, ‘Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you,’ can truly say to every group of Christian friends, ‘Ye have not chosen one another but I have chosen you for one another.’ The friendship is not a re-ward for our discriminating and good taste in finding one another out. It is the instrument by which God reveals to each of us the beauties of others.”

“To everyone who becomes a partaker of His grace, the Lord ap-points a work for others. Individually we are to stand in our lot and place, saying, “Here I am; send me.” Upon the minister of the word, the missionary nurse, the Christian physician, the individual Christian, whether he be merchant or farmer, professional man or mechanic,—the responsibility rests upon all. It is our work to re-veal to men the gospel of their salvation. Every enterprise in which we engage should be a means to this end.”
