Pixie Raven The Cottage Witch S1 Ep7 The Belvoir Witches
Hi Witches!   We are back in sunny England for this weeks presentation on the Belvoir Witches.  The Belvoir Witches are 6 women who were accused of Witchcraft in 1618 against the Earl and Countess of Rutland.  It always takes someone of nobility to accuse witchcraft, doesn't it?!  Infant deaths, familiars, and sexual promiscuity are the foundations of their crimes. Plus Joan being loathed by everyone in her immediate vicinity didn't help matters.  So pull up your high winged armchair and grab some witches brew, and settle in for another episode of British Witchcraft History!

Pixie Raven The Cottage Witch S1 EP1 Elizabeth Barton
Welcome to a shiny sparkly podcast. Series 1 is about Women who were Condemned as Witches and the Men (asshats) who found them Guilty.    Our first episode looks at The Mad Maid of Kent, Elizabeth Barton who really should have just kept quiet. As all good witches know, to Be Silent is part of the law and for good reason as we will find out.   Resources:   Wikipedia (Don't judge I have to start somewhere and finding books on these women is HARD!) The Holy Maid of Kent: The Life of Elizabeth Barton, 1506-1534   Fact Check   During the podcast, Thomas More gets a shout-out. I am noted for saying that More was executed for not going along with the annulment of Catherine of Aragon and Henry VIII. This is incorrect. He was executed because he would not agree to sign a declaration that stated that he saw Henry VIII as head of the Church.
