----more----Kyle McMann joins us today to talk about the micro and major pivots he has made over the last few years in both his professional and personal life. As a fire chief and registered nurse in Marion County, Kyle is a goal chaser used to going fast through life. Now, he is learning how to slow down and ultimately be himself. With many external stresses affecting both aspects of his life, Kyle found the need to pivot thrust upon him. In the middle of divorce proceedings and with a daughter on her way to college, Kyle found that these forced changes allowed him to open his eyes to the bigger picture.Learning the beauty of slowing down has been a major part of Kyle’s process. Trained to be fast thinking and acting, he carries that mentality into his personal life. Slowing down has allowed him to begin reflecting on who he is and who he wants to be. He began utilizing meditation and mindfulness to help him on his journey and is trying to change his perspective. With the vote on a levy for the fire service not passed, Kyle put his new perspective and slowness into action. Remaining calm and prioritizing enabled him to support his team and reassure them. With the onset of the pandemic it was essential to avoid panic and stay grounded. Kyle pivots out to his inner circle to create a collaborative and supportive plan that works for everyone. To end the episode, Kyle tells us about his search for himself. He is taking the time to learn who he is and to reflect with gratitude on his situation. He is learning not to beat himself up over the past and accept the present moment.

----more---- Jessica Amos joins us today to discuss her recent pivot into the world of coaching and escaping the ways in which we are all conditioned. Jessica is a meditation trainer whose work features on the Insight Training app. She is also known for her TEDx talk about healing anxiety through presence and meditation.Recently, Jessica has made a conscious jump into coaching. As a meditation teacher she found she was getting frequent requests for one-on-one coaching and finally decided to take the leap. In working out who her core audience was, Jessica interviewed men about their awakenings. Before long she was able to pivot again into what she really wanted to target: boundaries, people pleasing and co-dependency.Leading up to this pivot, Jessica had been feeling that she had reached the maximum that she could accomplish on her own. She realized that she needed to change her mindset and find community. It was this realization that led to taking coaching classes and really zeroing in on what she wanted to put out into the world.Jessica grew up with an unstable home life. She discusses how the mechanisms she learned in regards to relationships stayed with her through adulthood. Learning to people please and diminish herself at an early age was not an easy cycle to break. She tells us that having her daughter was the catalyst for Jessica beginning to come back to herself. To end the episode, Jessica and Scott discuss the importance of beginning. Just taking a small action can be the thing that breaks the cycle. We have all been given boxes that we live in, but just because that’s what we’ve been given doesn’t mean that’s where we have to stay.Contact Jessica here:StayWithYourself.comInstagram
