In this episode, I wanted to talk about a lot of the generational gaps between millennials and Gen Z because I feel like there’s some gaps between the two, but there’s also similarities between the two and I feel like as a Gen Z I can relate to some of the gaps and similarities. This is somewhat of an intense topic, and I feel like nobody talks about these generational issues between specifically those two generations, however, I know we can relate to a lot of things, but of course there are significant differences. Growing up, I had millennial cousins literally all my cousins are millennials so being the youngest and the only Gen Z it puts things into perspective and gets me understanding how it is as a millennial versus how it is as a Gen Z and what are some of the issues that both face today in 2023.

happy new year! as i said it's been a slow time but i am trying to make more episodes and make a return but it's been an immense struggle now starting a new job! in this episode, i wanted to talk about my experiences, with being compared to people, having to be pressured to do well, and basically how i've changed my mindset, and started living for myself. sometimes when you grow up in an environment, where comparisons are a thing, it is hard to not fall into that mindset of oh i need to be like this person or i have to be a certain way. but, because you're not like that person, you're having to feel pressured to do well to make people proud and overtime, it can create a negative mindset in your life, which can essentially drag you down if you're trying to achieve your goals. so you start to realize that its not a life that you want to live and it's not serving you any purpose so you start living for yourself. hello friends! i am so behind and i apologize for this. i have been dealing with a lot within myself and have not felt motivated enough to record any episodes, but if you're listening to this episode, it was prerecorded back in december. the next episode from this is also prerecorded. in this episode, i touch light on all the barriers i went through as a child up until my adult years. needless to say i have been through so much, but i can say over the years i have become thick skinned, especially now because i don't take shit from anyone. i used to be the type of person that was innocent, had let so many people walk over me and did not prioritize myself. but now being almost 24, i have decided to make me a priority and prioritize my career, my life and my dreams, i don't plan on letting anyone drag me down. i am lucky enough to have friends, family and a partner who support me through it all! i know it's been a while, i needed some time away, but i am back and ready to talk. so for this episode, i wanted to take a big turn in a more positive direction. in the last episode, i talked about a lot of dark topics and trauma that i have been dealing with so i wanted to kind of change the vibe and make a more happier episode. i wanted to start a series called am i the asshole series and i am aware that a lot of people are doing this but i also wanted to do it because i don't just want my episodes to be dark and upsetting or sad. i simply just want to lighten the mood and some of these are really interesting to read and some of these are just like what the fuck are you doing, but i would love to give my opinion on them so let's see how these types of episodes go. first off, i want to say thank you to anyone who's listening to my podcast as we finally reached 10 episodes! i cannot thank you enough for all your support and i cannot wait to see what the future holds for this podcast! so for this episode, it's going to take a little bit of a turn because i wanted to kind of get into my traumas. i feel like it's really important to talk about your traumas as it can enable you to get on to your healing journey. so far, i've been healing from these major traumatic events that have happened to me in the past year and a half up until now. i haven't been able to talk about these things because i tend to avoid talking about them and i know that they're just gonna always sit with me until i heal from them. the first traumatic event that i'll be talking about is the death of my grandmother just a little backstory. she and i were very close and i miss her very dearly. the second traumatic thing that i would like to talk about is a very mentally traumatizing car accident that happened to me just this year in May. it had affected my driving and it is still mentally affecting me to this day, these are obviously a lot different than the other traumatizing things that i've gone through a kind of view these as trauma that i still deal with. i hope with this episode you guys are able to see how i deal with these traumas and how bad it's affected me and i hope you guys can support me through this journey of healing. i've been feeling so unheard lately, and I feel like it's really important that we share our feelings with people who we care about even if it doesn't get reciprocated. so I decided to talk about my experiences in this episode, and what i do when dealing with being unheard by somebody. in my issue with the friend of mine I felt like I was unheard by her and that I cannot share my feelings with her without feeling judged and misinterpreted on a timely basis. but there is light at the end of the tunnel! there are so many ways we can make ourselves feel heard without even communicating with that person or just if they don't bother hearing you out, there are ways. you don't have to talk to that person you don't even need to contact them, but you need to contact your feelings. it doesn't matter what type of relationship this is happening in it's not okay for someone to overpower you or walk over you or even just generally invalidate your feelings. a relationship should solely be based on healthy communication. i've been on the Internet quite some time and I've seen the amount of cancel culture there is. I find cancel culture to be the most toxic thing, and I will get into that in this episode. Cancel culture can be used as a resource. However, sometimes it can go overboard which can cause a lot of mental distress on people. you can be a person who is cancelled or you can be a person who is cancelling or you can simply be a bystander, and if you're one of those three things, cancel culture can effect you mentally. i provide an example on what I dealt with through cancel culture and the mistake I made through it and how it affected me mentally, but I'm also going to go on and explain how you can protect your mental health when it comes to cancel culture. i have had many experiences with this topic, and at my age you are going to meet many different people. some people may have the same views as you when it comes to you but others may not. just because a person doesn't agree with you on certain things, doesn't define their character. actually, in my opinion, i find it to be very healthy when people have different views, so that way you can understand that person better. maybe a person has a certain way of sautéing vegetables because thats how their grandma taught them growing up and you probably don't agree with it, does that make you a bad person? not necessarily. should your character be defined by that statement you made? i would at least hope not. at the end of the day, that conversation is going to be forgotten, and the next morning you won't even be thinking about it. walk in conversations with healthy communication strategies. i find motivation to be a very complicated ability for myself. i wake up late, and can't find it in me to do the things i love, for example going to the gym, playing music, creating things because i find it all so boring in the end. my mental health plays an ultimate in role in why i have issues feeling motivated to do things. today's episode gives you background on motivation itself and some experiences of mine that have had me struggling to be motivated.
