In a rural area of California sits a building atop a hill that resembles a castle. The Preston School of Industry was a proposed as a reform school and was used to house wards, or minors under the guardianship of the state.Today the building is a historic landmark and according to historians, volunteers and paranormal investigators, some of the spirits of the boys who were housed there, and a few employees, are still roaming the halls. Investigator Connie Brenner and administrator Sybil Griffith share some of their paranormal experiences in the historic landmark.

In the 1920s, the town Williamson West Virginia celebrated the opening of its hospital, which sat atop a hill overlooking the city. Today, nearly a century later, the building is abandoned, but serves as a tourist attraction and hot spot for paranormal investigations. Tonya Webb, one of the owners of the hospital, shares her personal paranormal experiences in the expansive building as well as the history around the rural town’s most imposing feature.What roams the halls of the building today? Some say its former patients who died in the building and others thing doctors and nurses of the past are still doing their rounds.Tonya believes it’s a mix of both, and there are many other spirits yet to be discovered and identified.

The Historic Old Scott County Jail first opened its doors in 1904 and served the people of Scott County Tennessee for 104 years. The three-story building saw suicides, mob hangings and even a fire that inspired the third floor.Today the building stands as a museum and center for paranormal research thanks to Miranda Young and Kristy Sumner, two paranormal investigators with a love of history. The building they open to tours and investigations is teeming with paranormal activity, and both women answered questions and shared their paranormal experiences with me for this episode of the podcast.

The Basin Park Hotel serves as a luxury getaway for people in northern Arkansas, its surrounding areas and from throughout the country. The large building dates to 1905 and gets its name from the natural spring nearby that some believed had healing powers. It could be the spirits of some of those looking for a miracle cure to their ailments who still wander the halls of the Basin Park Hotel, and tour guide Diane Newcomb has made a career out of collecting evidence of the paranormal activity there. This episode dives into the history of the historic hotel and the unique way in which the hotel and Diane conduct ongoing investigations to try to identify the ghosts who still seem to call the hotel home.

The building that houses the Spookeasy Lounge in Ybor City, Tampa Florida’s historic district, started its life as a church. More specifically, it was a church that worked directly with Cuban immigrants that came to Tampa to work in its cigar factories. The 15th street structure has seen many occupants over the years .. churches, an orphanage, night clubs and, now, a Kava tea bar with a basement that hosts a liquor bar and night club. The Spookeasy Lounge is themed appropriately as a horror destination. Effigies of popular movie monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein and more adorn its walls and the gothic décor transport visitors to a vibe similar to a European castle. But the owners know there is more to the building. At least 17 spirits haunt the two-story building and co-owner Kat Travers is more than happy to research the history behind the hauntings and invite paranormal investigators in to determine who and what is still residing in the century-old building.

The Old South Pittsburg Hospital in rural Tennessee is considered by many to be the most haunted location in the state. It was founded in the 1950s and served the community for nearly 40 years before it slowly shut its doors and sent its remaining patients to nearby Chattanooga. After sitting quietly for several years, Ronne D, a paranormal investigator from Chicago, investigated and then purchased the building and has turned it into the Old South Pittsburg Hospital Paranormal Research Center (OSPHPRC) and regularly conducts investigations and tours while collecting evidence of paranormal activity. Ronne D and paranormal investigator Steve Nelson both share their stories of paranormal encounters in this episode and discuss who...or what...still haunts the historic location in the Tennessee foothills.  

The Tatum-Rawls house is an exact representation of life in 1880s Florida and is part of an educational and nature preserve in Sarasota County. While the two-story building has been relocated, it still maintains its original form and has been furnished with era-specific antiques to offer a full picture of pioneer life in the Sunshine State. Paranormal investigators believe that several of the home's original inhabitants are still calling the building home, and they made themselves known during an investigation there in the fall of 2022.Phelan Paranormal shares their experience in one of Florida's original homesteads that is still open to the public.

In 1970,  Andrews Memorial Chapel was physically split in two and moved one mile north to its new home in Dunedin Florida. The original building, constructed in 1888, is in tact today, but may have spirits of its past connected to it. According to the paranormal investigative team Silent Slayer Tours, and the chapel's event coordinator, there are plenty of spirits in the old church to keep visitors on their toes.

The Hacienda Hotel in New Port Richey, Fla., is a Mediterranean-style pink hotel dating back to 1927. While the venue has been recently renovated and returned to its former glory and is again welcoming guests, the hotel long sat dormant and was the site of break ins and alleged paranormal sightings.With the hotel now restored and open again, Historian Bob Langford and hotel public relations manager Dylan Gamez share their stories of the hotel’s history and their own encounters with the spirits that they believe still reside within the 40-room hotel along Florida’s Gulf coast.
