In the Sportlight 9th August
The football season continues and our men's sides throughout the Petersphere have hit the ground running. Some solid results so far but all sides must continue to build on their good starts. Petersfield Town have had an excellent draw in the league encounter against Downton last week but face a tough game at home in the F A cup preliminary round against Fareham. https://petersfieldtownfc.co.uk/ . This week, we visit Liss Athletic, a side decimated over the summer by player departures. But this gritty side know a thing or two about rebuilding. This weekend saw them welcome Blackfield and Langley, a team with 2 wins from 2 so far. We have post match reaction as well as interviews with the Liss coaching team. https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/lissathletic/ Liphook United have shaken off their relegation fight memories and have started well this season. This week they host Locks Heath where continuing momentum is everything https://www.liphookunitedfootballclub.org/ . And we also catch up with our promotion chasing Mens side in the cricket. A fantastic run of recent form has pushed the club to second place and set up an exciting final dash for the title. https://www.petersfieldcricket.club/ See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Sky Watch - the night skies above Petersfield in August 2026
Welcome to ‘Sky Watch’, your personal 'Petersphere' stargazing bulletin for August! Once in a while we get a special astronomical event, and this month the Petersphere is due for a deep partial eclipse of the Sun. On August 12th, over 90% of the Sun will be obscured by the Moon at maximum, which will significantly lower sunlight and produce a noticeable effect!  For more, listen to this month's Sky Watch. Written by Petersphere resident, astronomical expert and amateur astronomer Geoff Burt, and voiced by Claire Vennis, every month Shine Radio presents a Sky Watch of our unique dark skies.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
