Amazing
Sarah is an amazing woman with so much talent. I love the interview with her brother and so proud of them for working to mend their relationship and brave enough to do this podcast. Ben is a very talented artist as well. This artistic talent is very much a Brown talent. Love them both!!

Everything I could want and more
As an art student, listening to this podcast has given me insight into sides of the art field that just are not openly discussed in academia. Perceived Value is honest, practical, humorous, engaging, and profoundly impactful. This is the resource I have been looking for. I am always eager to hear the latest episode.

Honest and Insightful
This podcast brings the voice of artists in a way that transcribed interviews sometimes cannot… Hearing them speak conversationally with Sarah, hearing their tone and excitement, it brings about this depth that further shapes the way I look at their work. Love it. Favorite episodes include: Kathleen Kennedy, Susie Ganch, and Georgina Trevino šŸ”„

Great podcast! I’m so interested by everyone’s journey to where they are today. Talking about the podcast has also sparked some interesting conversations with the artists around me. Keep up the great work!

Amazing insight for makers!
As a maker, educator and arts administrator in a role where I’m always trying to find ways to serve other self-employed artists, I can’t get enough of Sarah’s insightful podcasts. She chooses fabulous guests, asks them direct questions in layperson’s terms, and somehow also keeps it entertaining. It’s invaluable hearing the journey of others on similar paths as your own (especially when 90% of your life is wrapped up within a focal length of 6ā€!). Thank you, Sarah!

There is no other podcast quite like it!
Sarah is a joy to listen to, very carefully, and with curiosity and joy, touching on topics usually avoided in the art world and artist circles. Each artist and maker (sometimes a DJ!) she welcomes in always brings new ideas and questions to the table, making each episode a new delight to listen to. Also- the sound quality and editing is GREAT. It’s clear that Sarah is dedicated to a quality recording and a genuine interview. The episodes are just long enough that I am entertained at length. Not too short and not too long. Thanks for great podcast, Sarah!

Great podcast for artists and makers
Sarah has worked tirelessly to shed light on some of the topics so often avoided in public spaces. How do artists actually make a living? How do we make ethical choices in our art making and business lives? In this faced-paced and throw-away culture, how do we help people care about community and quality? Thank you so much, Sarah, for your effort and dedication.

Listen to this
Sarah’s making a unique podcast that no one else is even considering. The quality is amazing, the guests have diverse strategies for getting by, and Sarah’s politely blunt questions get to some real information, beyond the kind of rehearsed spiel most artists reel off by rote. You won’t agree with every guest or opinion but it’s always fascinating!

Great podcast
Great podcast from a skilled interviewer. The conversations are focused and informative. I save these to listen to on my commute to teach a jewelry class. They focus my connection to the craft world and reveal experiences I shared in and also those I didn't take.

The Perfect Studiomate!
Perceived Value is the perfect studiomate! Working alone everyday for years now, I’ve found that this podcast helps create a sense of community for me that I wouldn’t otherwise have. I drop everything to tune in when a new episode is released! Thank you, SRB for picking the brains of the most interesting artists & industry professionals!

A welcome fresh voice!
Trying to eek out a living as a jeweler is a bit like the idea of herding cats. Sarah is asking the questions many of us have wanted to ask, yet we aren’t exactly in the position to do so. She is a very welcome voice on the scene. There are countless ways to create a career in the arts but little by little these interviews will encourage us to follow our instincts. Ideally this podcast will educate the consumers/collectors, because our biggest problem is more often than not customers don’t understand just how expensive it is to ā€˜tool up’ and get some work out into the marketplace. More collectors, more patrons and educated buyers would be a most welcome side-effect to Sarah’s efforts in cracking the code to ā€˜perceived value’!

Incredibly relatable and insightful resource
I can’t tell y’all how much this podcast has helped me this past year. All the feelings I’ve been having are talked about in the podcast. Plus many questions I’ve had about money, logistics and things happen with in the contemporary jewelry field as addressed. I never knew a podcast could help me this much. So truly thankful for the work on Sarah Rachel Brown. She is incredible!

Ms.
This thoughtful, well produced podcast is providing dialog the contempory jewelry field desparately needs. While focused on the niche of comtemporay jewelry, many of the topics and guests cross over into other creative fields. A wondrerful resource to any creative type at any level, covering a broad range of how people are (or aren't) making a living as artists.

Perceived value
All of my other podcasts are on hold due to this one. Sarah Rachel Brown is such a great interviewer, and asks questions that are normally tip-toed around in such a thoughtful way. Great listening for anyone that knows the struggle and hustle of an artists’ everyday life. This makes my studio time less lonely and makes me feel like I’ve made some friends along the way.

Top value
A really informative and encouraging podcast for artists, especially if you fit the mold/s of art jeweller, emerging artist, working artist, curious maker. A podcast focussing on the very real issues related to being a practicing artist, presenting diverse opinions, paths and motivations.

We have all been waiting for this podcast!
As an emerging art jeweler, honestly just beginning to understand the ā€œhustleā€ that’s in front of me, I couldn’t have found this podcast at a more perfect time. I’m looking forward to all future episodes! AND this is not just a podcast for jewelers, but anyone working in the creative art/craft world hustlin to be an artist. Enjoying every minute. Thanks!
Bee.
Not just for jewelers!
Sarah Rachel Brown reaches a refreshing level of transparency with her guests. She taps perfectly into the contemporary jewelry field, but her reach extends beyond jewelry as well. I can’t speak highly enough of this podcast, and I look forward to each new episode’s release! I recommend it for creatives in any field who aim to generate income from their work.

Lots of great info!
I’ve been slowly getting back into jewelry making and have found so much useful information that I had either forgotten or was never taught when I was in school!
Chaotic_life
So glad my friend turned me onto this!
For over 30 years I've been an artist, and this is a great reality check. I wish I could talk about all this honestly with my collectors; it seems like artists are always having these conversations among ourselves, which probably doesn't do any of us any good. Why people think artists and creatives (especially women, for some reason) shouldn't get paid a living wage is simply beyond me. I often want to ask people who say my work is expensive, "How much do you make an hour to do work you love?" I don't, of course (no better way to offend a potential buyer), but I want to. Perceived Value, indeed. Thanks, Sarah.
