This is a very foundational teaching that every believer needs to hear. God's character is love, and Satan's character is fear. It is truly that simple. Jesus must reveal God's nature to us so that we can overcome and destroy the works of the enemy, following in Jesus' footsteps. Moses understood the ways of God, while the children of Israel only understood His acts. To truly know God's character, we must intentionally choose to go deeper with God, like Moses, for the ways and character of God to be revealed to us.
